Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club, located just minutes from Edison in Central New Jersey, offers a distinguished 18-hole championship layout that challenges golfers across all skill levels while delivering a refined private club experience. The course is a classic example of traditional parkland design, presenting lush fairways lined with mature hardwoods and well-placed bunkers that demand precision and thoughtful strategy. The gently rolling terrain provides subtle elevation changes that influence shot selection, making each hole memorable without overwhelming players newer to the game.

Visitors to Plainfield will find a setting that blends serene woodland landscapes with meticulously maintained greens, each crafted to test short game skills with varied slopes and contours. This combination makes the course approachable for mid and high handicappers, yet still inviting for lower handicaps seeking reliable shot-making rewards. The design emphasizes clear sight lines and straightforward routing, keeping pace of play steady while encouraging smart risk-reward decisions.

Amenities at the club include a full-service clubhouse offering dining with scenic views over the course, practice facilities featuring a driving range and putting green, and locker rooms designed with comfort in mind. Members often praise the walking-friendly layout, which can be enjoyed year-round when conditions permit. While carts are available, many prefer to experience the course on foot, absorbing the natural sounds and quiet moments that the course environment offers.

Planning a round here means preparing for a course where accuracy and course management are at a premium. Weather typical of the Central New Jersey region can bring breezes that subtly affect ball flight, especially on the longer par-4s and par-5s. Players should come equipped with a versatile set of clubs and a willingness to engage with the course’s strategic challenges.

Whether arriving for a casual round or competitive play, Plainfield Country Club stands as a quietly impressive venue that balances tradition with playability. Its charm lies in the steady test it presents alongside the comfort of a private membership club well cared-for by its dedicated staff.

This is just a gun place to hang out at. They have a beautiful outdoor patio, yhe good was delicious and the staff is friendly, courteous and attentive. I'm really looking forward to returning here when I have a little more time so I can play a round of golf. And although it is an Elks Lodge. It is open to the public. However, Elks members do receive a discount on drinks as well as golf so membership does have its privileges.

The show was very nice but the traffic leaving was poorly done and we witnessed several near miss accidents.

This place is racist and it’s going to take a lot to change my mind. Decided to leave a review after my second visit and here’s how it went. First Visit Got to the golf course at 4:40pm and as we walked into the pro shop saw a pair of guys loading up their cart to hit the greens. Walked in and asked to play the first 9 and the guy said he can’t let people go out past 5pm but it was 4:53 and he just let the previous guy out 2 minutes earlier. Decided to go to the driving range and asked for a cart and he said carts had to be back by 5:15. Again he just let a pair out to play the range. So we had to walk to the driving range. After the driving range decided to get food and it mostly went alright but they forgot my fries and I didn’t mind because I had my cheese curds. Second Vist Played the first 9 and had a golf cart this time so that is fine. After playing got food inside. Problem #1 I was two of my friends and we all ordered, one burger and two chicken sandwiches. A few minutes later the lady came back and said they had to remake a chicken sandwich because it fell on the floor and it would be out a few minutes after the other food. It ended up being my friends and not mine. 3 minute later both their orders came out. I was confused on how his food came before mine when they had to remake his. Problem #2 Once again they forgot fries and I had to ask for them even though I made sure to tell the guy (Troy) I wanted fries Problem #3 I order food to go for my girlfriend, a chicken salad and cheese curds. It took 20 minutes for the food to come out which is ridiculous for a salad and cheese curds Problem #4 one I got home the salad this not have dressing on it and the cheese curds were way over cooked, who orders salad with no dressing? This place is absolutely racist. I’m not kne to throw that around but due to the fact that both times I was there with my white friends and all the wrong doing only happened on my end that’s what I am lead to believe. You can bet I will not be returning to this place.
