Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole championship layout just outside Edison, New Jersey, presenting a classic parkland experience that balances strategic design with a welcoming playability. The course’s green fairways spread across gently rolling terrain, lined by mature trees that frame each hole with measured restraint rather than overwhelming density. This setting creates a pace of play and shot variety inviting for golfers of all levels, from aspiring amateurs seeking confidence to low handicappers aiming to test their precision.

With a par of 71 and total yardage exceeding 6,700 yards from the back tees, the course demands thoughtful club selection and shot shaping, yet remains approachable from the forward tees with more forgiving angles and moderate hazards. The gently undulating greens provide subtle breaks, rewarding a steady putting stroke while encouraging excellent approach play. Bunkers are well placed around the greens and along fairways, offering visible challenges without dominating the layout.

The clubhouse stands as a central gathering point, combining traditional charm with modern amenities that enhance the day-to-day member experience. Though access is members-only, the club maintains a respectful and refined environment where golf takes precedence. Walking the course is encouraged, with smooth paths and well-maintained turf making comfortable play on foot a practical choice. Sturdy golf shoes are advisable, especially during spring and fall when the turf can retain moisture.

Plainfield Country Club features thoughtfully designed holes that showcase subtle elevation shifts and framed vistas, inviting strategic planning on every shot. While it may not push the boundaries of architectural flamboyance, its meticulous upkeep and balanced routing make it ideal for players looking to enjoy a competitive round amid classic parkland scenery. The greens’ responsiveness and tree-lined fairways reward consistent ball-striking, demonstrating why this course remains a standout private venue within the Central New Jersey golf scene.

Course Highlights

The course’s parkland style highlights mature trees and well-placed bunkers that guard the greens, while gentle elevation changes add layers of strategic interest. The 9th and 18th holes provide natural focal points with their broader fairways and receptive greens.

Love this place!! Usually here every few weeks for a group gathering but this time we held our groups first ever golf event. The course was super nice and they staff were amazing!! Made it easy to organize and adjust when plans/times changed. Can't wait till next year when we do it again!!

Low cost but you get what you pay for. Greens are surprisingly decent (aside from ball marks) but pace of play is a huge issue. Probably wouldn't come back unless you live nearby. Lot of rowdy guys in cargo shorts. No ball marks fixed, no bunkers raked, loud music all over.

Our group paid $2,500 to host a large golf tournament here. Despite that significant investment, one of our group members returned to the course today and was treated with hostility and removed without a valid explanation. The treatment we received was not only unprofessional but felt blatantly racist and prejudiced. To make matters worse, the starter—who thinks he’s “Stone Cold Steve Austin” impersonator—was rude, condescending, and clearly on a power trip.and clearly hates his job If this is how paying customers are treated, especially minorities, it says a lot about the values of this golf course. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a welcoming, respectful, or professional environment.

Very prejudice people We had a tournament there And the Marshall Kurt was yelling and screaming at us For no reason We talked to the main guy today. His name is Jim and he said that he agreed with him. So my point of view, if you’re not white, don’t go there very unprofessional golf course It is what it is

I visited Here Last Saturday recently with high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing and troubling. From the moment I arrived, there was a noticeable difference in how certain guests were treated — particularly those who didn’t "fit the mold" of the regular crowd. Staff interactions felt cold and dismissive toward members of our group, while others around us were greeted warmly and given far more attention and courtesy. We were questioned repeatedly about our tee time and membership status, even after providing confirmation — something I didn’t see happening to others. There was an overall air of discomfort that made us feel like we didn’t belong, not because of our behavior or attire, but because of who we are. Golf is meant to be a sport that brings people together, but unfortunately, this course seemed more focused on maintaining exclusivity than promoting inclusion. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously, because until then, I cannot recommend this course to anyone looking for a respectful, welcoming environment. Very racist towards people of color that are American

The course was very well maintained, but the marshall is very concerned about how fast you play. It was my first time playing golf and he hounded us for the last 5 holes about things we could do to speed up. I would not recommend going here if you are new to the sport.
