Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private parkland course that blends strategic challenges with approachable playability. Set near Edison, its mature trees, subtle elevations, and well-kept greens create a refined experience for golfers seeking classic design in a peaceful setting.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club stands as a refined private retreat just beyond Edison in Central New Jersey, offering an 18-hole championship layout that balances tradition with playability. The course unfolds among gently rolling terrain characteristic of the region’s parkland style. Mature trees line many fairways, shaping strategic lines of play and providing a tranquil, shaded environment that changes with the seasons. Water hazards punctuate the landscape without overwhelming, requiring thoughtful shot placement rather than brute power.

Designed to challenge experienced players while remaining accessible for mid and higher-handicappers, Plainfield Country Club's fairways demand precision and good course management. The greens are well-maintained but offer subtle undulations that reward careful reading and controlled approach shots. Golfers will find that the course’s natural contours respond well to varying weather conditions, making it a reliable test through spring to fall.

The overall setting emphasizes classic golf architecture with straightforward routing and thoughtful use of natural features. Unlike courses defined by dramatic elevation changes or coastal winds, Plainfield provides a measured challenge where patience and finesse are equally important. The clubhouse facilities uphold an understated elegance, supporting member comfort and social gatherings.

Players planning a round here can expect a membership-focused experience with limited access to guests by invitation. The course encourages walking, with well-maintained paths and gentle slopes that reward players who prefer a traditional golf pace. For those considering a visit, sturdy footwear is advisable to accommodate occasional dampness in spring or fall. Given the club’s private status, advanced planning and coordination through members remain essential to secure a tee time.

Amenities include well-appointed locker rooms and a pro shop offering standard equipment and apparel. While Plainfield Country Club lacks flashy technological enhancements, the day-to-day presentation and the integrity of its golf challenge embody a refined standard cherished by private clubs in this part of New Jersey. Each hole presents its own strategic demands set against a quietly scenic backdrop – an experience that can satisfy dedicated golfers seeking a classic parkland golf outing.

Course Highlights

Everyone is nice here, but the pasta dishes are not great. The gnocchi is truly a bad dish, and I don't say that lightly. It comes with dried, burnt gnocchi, random splotches of cheese, and slices of... Orange???

I ate here for prom last night, we were charged extra for items we didn’t even have, service was terrible and SLOW! We waited about 15 minutes just for our checks, server was obviously not trained correctly. i work at a restaurant and we would never ever allow this to happen. we were late for prom and our other events and we told our waiter we were in a rush. don’t go here.

This golf course has always been special to play on and be involved with. We're up there from St. George visiting for the week and I was just practicing my putting. I've played in 2 Kemosabie golf tournaments in the past and just love the surroundings and the views from this course. The putting green is on excellent condition.

This venue was selected for another year for my daughter's company party. The drive was beautiful and we had never been before. Her company is very focused on the culture and everyone feeling as If they, as an employee, are 'THE' REASON for their success. I'm not sure how much of the event was organized by Park Meadows; it was a fabulous event. It was an open bar and drinks were being complimented around the room (kudos to the bartenders) while everyone visited with each other and members from every department. There was a deejay for the night who kept the music lively for everyone, and nonoffensive but seemed to cover several genres. One you've had an excellent experience, it affects you forever but what you learn. While organizing an event once, the deejay I hired considered everything from the room space to the number of people expected and even factored the alcohol content to determine comfortable noise levels for various points of the evening. The deejay last night seemed to have two levels for playing, which was loud for the most part and we couldn't even hear across the table for the music dB. The buzz of mingling was closer to 1/3 of the noise level. The second level was lowered as cued by someone from the company for announcements and presentations. That leads me to think they were asked to keep the volume up. The meal was excellent and well prepared to everyone's delight, and during the meal, someone of importance went around each take to make sure everyone was content. Well played, park Meadows!
