Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club presents an 18-hole private course that blends parkland charm with championship challenge. Featuring tree-lined fairways and well-guarded greens, it rewards precise play while inviting golfers of varying abilities to enjoy its classical layout and top-tier amenities.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers a refined golfing experience set just minutes from Edison, New Jersey. This private 18-hole championship layout stretches over approximately 7,020 yards with a par of 72, expertly maintained to challenge skilled players while remaining accessible to dedicated amateurs. The course unfolds across gently rolling terrain, reflecting classic parkland design qualities marked by tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering, and well-contoured greens that demand both accuracy and thoughtful course management.

From the first tee, golfers encounter a layout that balances risk and reward, where well-placed shots set up scoring opportunities but errant drives often find dense foliage or deep rough. The course’s routing takes full advantage of the surrounding landscape, weaving through mature hardwoods and small water hazards that come into play on multiple holes. Play here is as much about precision as power, with several par 4s inviting careful shot placement and doglegs requiring measured decisions.

Players across a range of skill levels will find something to appreciate in Plainfield Country Club’s nuanced design. The multiple tees accommodate different drives and approaches, ensuring an approachable progression for less experienced players while offering a stern examination for those seeking to test their game. The course’s greens are known for subtle breaks and varied speeds depending on season and maintenance, rewarding players who bring a steady putter.

The club’s amenities complement the golf with a well-appointed clubhouse offering dining, locker rooms, and event spaces that cater to members’ needs throughout the year. Walking the course is encouraged, with wide paths and smooth terrain easing navigation on foot, though carts are available for those who prefer.

Situated within Central New Jersey’s vibrant golf circuit, Plainfield Country Club holds its place as a private sanctuary where tradition and challenge coexist. Whether preparing for competition or enjoying a leisurely round, players leave with a clear sense of having engaged a course that respects the game’s strategic depth in an inviting environment.

Called to order a pizza. I was told the pizza was $21. Ended up being $27 because of a card fee which I get. But the $2 to go fee was never mentioned- and is pretty excessive. If I sat down to eat would I be charged to take my leftovers home? Woman up front said if it was delivery there would be a delivery fee- which makes zero sense because I drove here to pick up my own pizza and I'm still being charged more for it. Won't eat here again out of the sheer principle that it's insane to charge people to charge not just $1 but $2 to pick up their own food. Wonder if I ordered delivery if I would still have to pay $2 for the box too. Ridiculous.

Best 9 hole course in the area. Course is very well maintained, greens roll true, and the wooded setting is tranquil and beautiful. Hole design is solid and there's good variety across only 9 holes with multiple tee boxes. Rates are very fair, facilities are in great shape, pro shop is well stocked. The bar and restaurant is a hidden gem. I expected the food to be just adequate, but it's awesome. We now come here just for food or a drink even without golfing. So glad to have this place close to home.
