Plainfield Country Club
Plainfield Country Club features a classic 18-hole parkland layout, blending strategic design with natural rolling terrain. This private course offers a balanced challenge for players of all abilities, complemented by refined amenities and a welcoming member atmosphere.
Course Overview
Plainfield Country Club presents an 18-hole private golf experience set against the gently rolling terrain of Central New Jersey’s suburban landscape. This classic parkland course offers a well-balanced layout that rewards accuracy and strategic shot-making. Mature tree lines frame each fairway, creating a sense of seclusion and concentration amidst a predominantly residential backdrop. The course’s design emphasizes thoughtful placement over sheer distance, making it approachable for golfers of varying skill levels while still offering challenges for lower handicaps seeking to test their precision.
From the first tee, players navigate a terrain where subtle elevation changes and relatively narrow fairways command respect. The greens are consistently well-maintained and feature moderate undulations, inviting a measured approach with one’s short game. Several holes provoke engaging decisions with bunker complexes positioned to guard greens and penalize errant approaches. Water hazards come into play sparingly but effectively, adding strategic variety rather than overwhelming risk.
The clubhouse at Plainfield Country Club serves as a refined gathering space featuring gracious locker rooms and dining facilities, enhancing a member’s overall visit. The golf shop stocks essential equipment and apparel, while the grounds support walking rounds, encouraging pace-of-play and an immersive outdoor experience. Caddies are available upon request, adding a traditional touch to the round.
With its private access and well-kept conditions, the club maintains a tranquil atmosphere that balances competitive golf with social enjoyment. It is a course that respects the roots of parkland design while accommodating modern expectations of playability and comfort. Whether sharpening your short game or simply enjoying a day out with fellow members, Plainfield Country Club delivers a rewarding test of golf within an inviting community setting.
For prospective visitors, wearing spikeless golf shoes is advised for comfort on the walking-friendly fairways. Early tee times can offer softer greens and quieter conditions. Reservations are mandatory through member connections, reflecting the club’s exclusive nature. Overall yardage stretches just over 6,500 yards from the back tees, with a par of 71, blending tradition and challenge within a Central New Jersey setting.
Course Highlights
The course showcases strategic bunkering that demands precision, gently rolling elevations shaping thoughtful shot selection, and mature tree lines that create intimate fairway corridors. Water hazards are minimal but positioned to influence key holes, and the green complexes offer subtle breaks requiring careful putting techniques.

We are locals and this is a hidden gem! For us it's all about the fabulous sauce! Everything we have tried as been wanting us to come back! Please come check out this lovely establishment! Oh last thing I don't eat meat and the staff is always coming up with different ideas and that's appreciated!

June 21, 2023. The restaurant has changed management. The building owners run the bar. Another entity leases and operates the restaurant and food. I guess things struggle. We will wait and see. As of April 7th, 2023, great improvements Wonderful changes. Breakfast. Starting at 8 in the morning, they offer a full coffee and pastry bar. Also, white cloth table service. The creole shrimp and gouda grits are delicious. Me and Hubs also got a trifokded 2 egg Omelet. Great table service. As of July 2022, they are now open for breakfast pastries and a barista style capouccino and expresso bar. Cafe au latte. Flavored coffees. Stuffed biscuits. Sausage or egg or crayfish and other delicious goodies. It's great for golfers to grab and go. Huge selection of fresh baked pastries daily. Except Monday and Tuesday. Great and very enjoyable staff . The food is awesome. The views are nice. Vistas of green lawns. We do not golf. But we can drink cocktails all day and watch men walk around and bang their little balls all day. Jolly is good. Delicious steaks. Very delicious. Chef Joe is a great culinary talent to Capones and to Gulf Hills. Matt is also a terrific wait staff person. Very good with details and very polite. Enjoy a lunch at Capones for lunch or dinner. We highly recommend the charm and experience. Ask for Matt.

A hidden gem right outside of downtown OS. Thursday nights they have all you can eat Royal Reds! Had the black and blue on this trip. It’s a giant! My wife had the chicken pot pie. Lunch specials rotate as well!

Truly one if the best spots on any street of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Huge and majestic live oaks surround a setting of greens. Since the 1920's, this has been a great course. Thursday night we go to the all-you-can-eat Royals Reds Shrimp. Chef joe is a great talent for the restaurant. Matt is our favorite staff wait person . Thanks Matt. Always a great job.

Was expecting the “Capone Club” to be a little more gourmet than some Great Value similar bread and meat. $18 for a sandwich and coke. 😞
