Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club presents an 18-hole private parkland course designed for strategic play and year-round enjoyment. Combining mature woodland scenery with thoughtfully contoured greens, this championship layout appeals to golfers across skill levels seeking challenge without intimidation.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private championship layout demanding precision and strategic shot-making within a classic parkland setting. Located just outside Edison, New Jersey, this course rewards players who appreciate tree-lined fairways and greens guarded by well-placed bunkers. The design encourages thoughtful play, with elevation changes and subtle contours that influence ball flight and putting lines without overwhelming less experienced golfers. Its generous fairways provide ample room for the amateur, while the undulating greens and challenging approach shots keep lower handicaps engaged.

The course weaves through mature hardwoods and well-manicured landscapes, offering a quiet retreat from urban surroundings. Lush fairways contrast sharply with clean sand traps and fast, true greens that respond well to both careful reading and crisp putting. Seasonal shifts throughout the year cast new challenges, from fresh spring growth to the peaceful stillness of late autumn afternoons.

Members benefit from a modern clubhouse equipped with locker rooms, dining facilities, and a pro shop stocked with the latest gear. While the course primarily caters to committed golfers who value privacy and exclusivity, its layout remains inviting to a broad range of playing abilities. Walking is welcomed and recommended, revealing subtle breaks and elevation changes that carts can obscure.

Attention to maintenance ensures consistent playing conditions. The staff's dedication is evident in smooth pace-of-play management and course setups that balance rigor with enjoyment. Whether approaching a mid-iron into a well-defended green or navigating the strategic demands of par-5s, each hole prompts careful consideration and rewards thoughtful execution.

Strategic bunkering and tree positioning keep golfers engaged, with select holes requiring well-placed tee shots to open scoring opportunities. This private club strikes a careful balance between challenge and accessibility, fostering community while preserving the integrity of championship golf. Plainfield Country Club stands as an excellent destination for those seeking a refined golf experience within Central New Jersey’s diverse landscape.

Course Highlights

The staff is as friendly as could possibly be expected. The course is unbelievably beautiful, challenging, and well maintained. I would recommend this course over any in the area. When I move here I will join. Thank you to the staff for treating me like a priority. The best golf staff I have dealt with in years. Thank You again, I had a great time.

Nice, open atmosphere seating with a window in one section over looking the golf course. Attentive staff, we were seated right away with no reservation. Decent selection of food. I ordered the meatloaf, which was served dunked in a thick gravy, so it stuck to the meat. It was good, but too thick, in my opinion, and did not add to the palate experience. I prefer a more traditional style of metloaf. It seems restaurants are always trying to improve the recipe. The dish came with a side of potatoes and vegetable. The potatoes had a specific name which, escapes me at the moment, to indicate that they are mashed and mixed with cheese. They had too much cheese and again detracted from the palate experience. The traditional meatloaf and mashed potatoes dish is a staple of American culture and a comfort food. It does not need to be improved. When I order this dish, I expect to taste and feel the comfort I have long experienced when eating it, not some strange recipe that makes it unrecognizable, thereby providing no satisfaction.
