Course Overview
Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private golf experience set in the gently rolling terrain of Central New Jersey near Edison. The course's classic parkland design integrates well-manicured fairways, mature trees, and strategically placed bunkers that challenge players to think carefully about their approach shots. While the layout rewards precision and course management, it remains approachable for golfers across a broad range of skill levels, making it a favored destination for both competitive play and leisurely rounds.
Players entering Plainfield will quickly notice how the course’s natural contours shape each hole differently. The front nine presents a balance of straightforward tee shots with subtle doglegs while the back nine introduces tighter fairways and well-guarded greens that require thoughtful shot placement. This gradual increase in difficulty suits those who want to warm up before turning up the pressure on their back nine.
The setting carries an understated charm: tree-lined fairways frame holes with ample space to navigate, and seasonal changes bring shifts in color and texture, adding layers to the playing experience without overwhelming the focus on the game itself. The club’s dedicated maintenance ensures consistent playing conditions through most of the year, though weather can influence course firmness during colder months.
Amenities center around a traditional clubhouse that supports members with locker rooms, a pro shop, and dining options that cater to post-round relaxation and socializing. A walking-friendly philosophy encourages players to experience the course fully on foot, allowing immersion in the environment and closer engagement with each hole’s design features.
Overall, Plainfield Country Club combines the best elements of a championship-level parkland course with a welcoming atmosphere tailored for members who appreciate a well-crafted test of golf. Whether refining skills or enjoying a casual round, the course rewards thoughtful play and delivers a satisfying pace across its 18 holes.

I played here as a guest recently and it is a beautiful course set up, pro shop was very accommodating and restaurant staff was friendly. Course conditions could have been better 4/5 but still a great place to play a round of golf. Course is very short, but still challenging.

Attended a wedding here. It was beautiful, the food was very good, and the grounds are very well maintained and pretty. Our server, while obviously busy, was extremely attentive. He got us everything we needed. All in all, it was a beautiful evening and event.

Communication is poor. Venue stole $2000 from me and won’t allow me to use it for another event even though I was told by the manager Robyn that I could. I can’t get anyone to return my calls or honor my credits. All around poor service and clearly like to steal from people!!! What a shame.

I joined in August 2021 and tried to coordinate golf and tennis lessons but could not get anyone to return inquiries. My teenager and I ate lunch, his was inedible fish tacos and mine was a club sandwich I could have made at home. I suggested mixers to try to meet new members but no one reached out. Waste of money in my opinion and the management staff never once reached out to me after I advised I was looking for more opportunities to utilize the club both personally and for business events. Now they are trying to charge me for more months beyond the original required 12 month commitment. Extremely dissatisfied and not how one would expect to be treated.

Went for a wedding. There were a few staff members who were rather short-tempered and didn't seem to want to be there, but most seemed happy and pleasant. The club house was nice but we weren't allowed in it past a certain part of the afternoon, although it was in the 90's. The grounds were well kept, scenery was beautiful.

Uninspired food, poor course conditions, increaes in dues without improvements, management without private club experience. For profit owners don't seem to care.
