Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club is a private 18-hole championship golf course situated just outside Edison in Central New Jersey. This parkland-style course combines classic design principles with well-maintained playing surfaces, offering a blend of challenge and enjoyment without overwhelming less experienced players.

From the first tee, the course invites focus and thoughtful shot-making. Fairways are generous but guarded by bunkers that challenge approach accuracy. The setting offers a quiet escape from urban life, with each hole framed by towering trees that provide a calming canopy and occasional shelter. Play here delivers bursts of natural beauty, especially in the morning light when dew still clings to the fairways and in late afternoon as shadows deepen.

Visiting from Texas my son and I were looking for a challenging and moderately priced course to play. We found exactly what we wanted in The Legacy. The clubhouse was well appointed and staff courteous and helpful. The course was well manicured, the greens were perfect. Playing from the tips the course was sufficiently challenging. Played in 3 1/2 hours. The bacon smash burger and drink included in our green fee was a real bonus. Our only knock is the lack of on course water.

So disappointed! MEMBERS can do better. Lets begins with , this was our first time at this course and it truly was Beautiful ! And well worth the money. We were paired with a great female couple, making us a foursome , 3 females and one male. We are decent players and have played golf for many years. Needless to say, we were finishing the 7th hole ( and well under 2 hours), and had a MEMBER- not the course marshal, come and inform us we were playing too slow, and we had to let a fivesome PASS US ( note- he was part of the fivesome ). The two ladies we were paired with, stated they’re always harassed at this course😡 Of course we didn’t let them pass, due to us being under time, and didn’t understand why this member was so adamant about our pace of play?? We all have affluent careers and are completely disappointed at the treatment we received by this MEMBER , as if we were Unwanted and Unwelcomed! We will definitely try the course again, to see if there’s a pattern.

This course is 45 minutes from me but I still consider it my home course. There are several courses closer but this is always worth the drive rain or shine. The course is always in immaculate conditions from the tee boxes to fairways to the greens. The greens are some of the best greens I have ever played on - they are big, complex and roll amazing, even in the rain. The clubhouse guys are always super helpful and very cool, and the snack bar ladies are so friendly and have the best burger you’ll ever eat at a golf course. I have been coming here consistently for around 2 years and couldn’t recommend this course more.

no beverage cart bc u play in Am. Every green different speed. Some with Poa annua vs disease and weeds some with not. At least half of them just been watered right before I come and play. Had to wait at least 3 times 7 minutes before sprinklers around the green and on the green to end. Some tee boxes saturated others Completely weed overgrown and baked out and get peg in ground without snapping 3. . Some Fairway are great others completely gone with baked out patches or mud. Guys mowing some of them are aware of players on the course others completely oblivious and we’ll just continue to mow while you stay on the tee for five minutes. Try not to plunk them in the gourd. I’ve worked every job within the golf business from mower/course maintenance to working in a pro shop to bad boy, fluffy range, concierge, etc. and the course has so much potential but so much to be desired. First played this course 10 years ago and it was in great shape and certainly worth the price. Among the best value in middle Tennesse. Now in its current conditionFor 75 hoggs = unacceptable

The pro shop and snack bar staff were very friendly and helpful. Great food and drink options! The course was challenging but fair. Fees are very reasonable. Can't wait to come back and see what it looks like when the work is done! We will definitely play here again.
