Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club presents an 18-hole parkland course that blends precise shot-making with natural New Jersey scenery. This private, championship layout offers a balanced test for golfers of all levels, framed by mature trees and subtle elevation shifts.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private golf experience set within the gently rolling landscape of Central New Jersey. This championship course maintains a traditional parkland style characterized by tree-lined fairways, well-placed bunkers, and subtly contoured greens that test precision and strategy. The layout balances a classic feel with playability, making it inviting to golfers across a range of skill levels while providing enough challenge to keep low handicappers engaged.

Players moving through the course will notice the deliberate pacing of holes that reward thoughtful shot placement more than sheer distance. The fairways provide true lies and generous width, but dense rough and strategically positioned hazards ensure that errant shots carry consequences. Greens are moderately fast and require keen reading to master their subtle breaks. The surrounding mature hardwoods frame each hole with seasonal color shifts that enhance the visual appeal without obstructing sightlines or strategy.

Located near Edison, New Jersey, the club offers a tranquil setting where natural features have been preserved alongside carefully maintained turf conditions. The clubhouse stands as a refined hub for members, offering dining facilities and a comfortable space to relax before or after a round. The course supports both walking and cart play, though walking is often preferred to fully absorb the atmosphere and rhythm of the course.

The club’s membership-only policy ensures a focused and attentive atmosphere where pace of play and course care receive equal priority. While the course offers a classic parkland experience, it does so with a subtle edge through strategic bunkering and elevation changes that engage players without overwhelming them.

Visitors can expect a well-rounded golf experience highlighted by thoughtful course architecture, consistent conditioning, and a setting that reflects New Jersey’s seasonal transformations. Plainfield Country Club is a destination where commitment to quality and tradition shape every tee shot and putt, inviting golfers to refine their game in a tasteful, welcoming environment.

While the course and layout are set up nice, we were very disappointed by the conditions of the course. Tee boxes and fairways were not mowed for days. Greens were filled with sand and ready for aeration, making it challenging to putt whatsoever. Fairway grass was hard to come by and had to look for good grass to hit off. This course has an extreme amount of potential, but 50 bucks for these conditions was disappointing.

Played here for the first time yesterday. Fairways were in great shape. Most of the greens were as well. Definitely a hidden gem and one of the nicest public courses I’ve played at in the Nashville area. All the staff were very friendly. Definitely will be back and even considering the membership option!

I am not sure what is with all of the bad reviews. After playing at Twelve Stones Crossing Golf Club yesterday. I felt as if I was playing at Augusta National in April today. Maybe a hiccup here and there, but no doubt playable and great value.

This would be a great course, my only complaint is.... I was traveling to Nashville and called to book a tee time a day in advance. That was easy the staff was great. However, the next day I get there, warm up on the driving range head over to number 1, hit, 20 yards shy of the green on a par 4. Great start. Only when I walk up to the green, the greens are punched and sanded to hell and back... ALL 18 GREENS were punched and sanded. I understand course maintenance, however, it was not advertised nor did the proshop say anything about the greens being punched and sanded. If you are going to punch and sand greens, either let people know or offer them a discount.

Best course in Middle TN as far as value goes. State of the art driving range and GPS on the carts is a huge incentive to give this course a try. Id tell anyone who is looking for a place to play in the Nashville area to try this course.

The pace of play was pretty slow. The course was in pretty bad shape. Two drinks and a burger was $14. That’s a big plus. The layout and scenery was really nice. The value was pretty solid - $45 green fees with carts felt like good value. And if you’re a left handed golfer you’re probably not gonna love the re fam club situation.
