Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club in Edison, NJ offers a classic 18-hole private parkland course that balances strategic challenge with playability. Its mature trees and well-guarded greens create a rewarding experience for golfers seeking precision and thoughtful course management.

Course Overview

Located just outside Edison in Central New Jersey, Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole championship layout designed to engage golfers of various skill levels across its well-manicured fairways. This private club cultivates a classic parkland style, where expansive greens and mature hardwood trees frame each hole with a sense of quiet dignity. The course's intricate design challenges precision and strategy rather than length alone, inviting players to navigate well-placed bunkers and subtle elevation changes that influence shot selection.

Players will find the course both inviting and demanding. Fairways that favor thoughtful placement meet greens guarded by bunkers that reward accuracy. The land itself plays an essential role; gentle slopes and strategically positioned hazards push golfers to consider every stroke while offering opportunities to recover. The experience unfolds amid an established landscape that shifts gradually from one hole to the next, revealing subtle variations in terrain and sightlines.

The clubhouse serves as a refined hub for members. Beyond golf, amenities include a well-appointed grill room and event spaces that add to the social rhythm of the club. While specific course yardages and pars vary across tee boxes, the layout comfortably suits players seeking a full round that balances approachability with moments of true challenge. Members appreciate the course’s condition throughout the seasons, supported by a dedicated grounds crew focused on maintaining playability and aesthetic appeal.

Walking the course is encouraged, with paths that allow for a fluid progression from hole to hole and minimal elevation that invites steady pacing. For players planning a visit, comfortable footwear is recommended given the natural undulations of the terrain and occasional soft conditions following rain.

Plainfield Country Club exemplifies a traditional private course experience in Central New Jersey, rooted in a design that demands both respect and resilience from its players. Whether testing a mid-iron into a tucked green or gauging the slope of a delicate putt, each round here reveals nuance without overwhelming, making it a well-regarded destination for competitive and recreational play alike.

Course Highlights

Plainfield Country Club emphasizes traditional parkland styling with mature hardwoods lining rolling fairways. The course features strategically placed bunkers that protect the greens, gentle elevation changes that reward thoughtful shot-making, and a layout that appeals equally to low and mid-handicap players. The clubhouse anchors the experience with quality amenities including well-equipped dining and event facilities.

Laurel Lane Country Club provided an absolutely stunning venue for our wedding reception and ceremony. The communication with our coordinator, Dale, was punctual, courteous, and tremendously helpful in planning our wedding from out-of-state. The reception hall and ceremony space were beautiful, clean, and inviting - the perfect space for our special day. Dale handled all of the day-of coordinating and we didn't have to worry about a thing. A huge thank you to Dale for being so patient and making everything easy and effortless! Planning a wedding out-of-state can be daunting but Dale made the entire process smooth. We are so grateful for Dale's expertise and the gorgeous venues that Laurel Lane offered. Just hosted a baby shower for my daughter at Laurel Lane. Everything was absolutely perfect! Dale was great to work with on all the details and she and her staff did a great job on the day of the shower. Chef Jose also did a great job on the food! I have had multiple people who attended the shower tell me how beautiful it was. Even in the middle of winter, it is a beautiful venue for any event. Highly recommend Laurel Lane!

Food was mediocre and it was a bit too warm inside the dining room.

I have TWICE gotten tick bites here. Walking briefly on the green that is not kept by the entrance; it should be sprayed and maintained. I was in the area for a brief moment to retrieve a ball and found them latched onto me immediately. There are deer all over the area which is inevitable, but it's an extremely dangerous space in that regard. They need to spray routinely around the sign, benches, entrance, pond, and all areas bordering the woods. One time was summer, but another was winter which is usually a low-activity period so they're really present.
