Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club offers a refined 18-hole private layout set in Central New Jersey’s parkland terrain. With strategic bunkering and well-conditioned fairways, this championship course balances challenge with playability for a diverse range of golfers.

Course Overview

Situated just outside Edison in Central New Jersey, Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private championship course designed for golfers seeking a blend of traditional parkland architecture and strategic challenge. The layout stretches over 6,900 yards with a par of 72, providing a test that rewards smart shot-making and precision. From the first tee, players encounter lush fairways framed by mature trees, shaping a course that demands thoughtful navigation while remaining approachable for a wide range of skill levels.

The course encourages a rhythm of play highlighted by uphill and downhill lies that introduce subtle shifts in strategy. Fairway bunkers appear at key landing zones, while greens present multi-dimensional breaks that prompt careful reading and delicate touch with the putter. A gentle breeze from the nearby Watchung Hills often influences club selection, adding a layer of environmental complexity. The overall setting conveys a quiet dignity, framed by natural woodlands and open vistas that refresh the senses without distraction.

Plainfield’s clubhouse serves as a welcoming hub, offering elegant dining and well-appointed locker rooms. Members enjoy practice facilities including a driving range and short-game areas, perfect for warming up or honing their skills. The club maintains a strong commitment to conditioning, and the course consistently ranks well among private venues in the region for its maintenance standards.

Accessibility is strictly members only, ensuring a relaxed pace of play and a community atmosphere. Walking is embraced here, with carefully maintained cart paths and a terrain that strikes a comfortable balance between challenge and ease for players on foot. Recommended shoes are those with solid traction for grass and mild slopes.

For golfers planning a visit, mornings are ideal to take advantage of softer greens and cooler temperatures. The course requires a thoughtful approach, but its fair design welcomes players who enjoy strategy and finesse more than pure length. Plainfield Country Club stands as a refined destination where nature and golf craft come together in measured harmony.

Course Highlights

Plainfield Country Club showcases classic parkland design, mature tree-lined fairways, strategic fairway bunker placement, and multi-tiered greens that reward precision. Just hosted a baby shower for my daughter at Laurel Lane. Everything was absolutely perfect! Dale was great to work with on all the details and she and her staff did a great job on the day of the shower. Chef Jose also did a great job on the food! I have had multiple people who attended the shower tell me how beautiful it was. Even in the middle of winter, it is a beautiful venue for any event. Highly recommend Laurel Lane!

Food was mediocre and it was a bit too warm inside the dining room.

Laurel Lane Country Club provided an absolutely stunning venue for our wedding reception and ceremony. The communication with our coordinator, Dale, was punctual, courteous, and tremendously helpful in planning our wedding from out-of-state. The reception hall and ceremony space were beautiful, clean, and inviting - the perfect space for our special day. Dale handled all of the day-of coordinating and we didn't have to worry about a thing. A huge thank you to Dale for being so patient and making everything easy and effortless! Planning a wedding out-of-state can be daunting but Dale made the entire process smooth. We are so grateful for Dale's expertise and the gorgeous venues that Laurel Lane offered. I have TWICE gotten tick bites here. Walking briefly on the green that is not kept by the entrance; it should be sprayed and maintained. I was in the area for a brief moment to retrieve a ball and found them latched onto me immediately. There are deer all over the area which is inevitable, but it's an extremely dangerous space in that regard. They need to spray routinely around the sign, benches, entrance, pond, and all areas bordering the woods. One time was summer, but another was winter which is usually a low-activity period so they're really present.
