Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers a classic private golf experience marked by carefully maintained fairways and a layout that challenges without overwhelming. This 18-hole course is a traditional parkland design set within gently rolling terrain in Central New Jersey, combining natural contours with strategically placed hazards that reward thoughtful shot-making. Mature trees border many holes, shaping the playing corridors and providing a quiet, focused environment that contrasts the nearby urban energy of Edison.

Golfers ranging from intermediate to low handicaps will find plenty to engage their skills here. While the routing presents demanding approach shots and well-guarded greens, the overall flow remains approachable, making it an ideal venue for members seeking consistent yet varied challenges. The course encourages strategic play, asking golfers to balance risk and reward through well-positioned bunkers and subtle elevation changes.

The clubhouse at Plainfield Country Club serves as a welcoming hub with classic amenities reflecting the club’s tradition. Its main facility thoughtfully supports both post-round relaxation and social events, featuring comfortable spaces that overlook key stretches of the course. Walking is a popular way to experience the course, and the terrain accommodates players who prefer to move on foot, with advisable footwear to handle mixed turf conditions and gentle slopes.

Located at 1591 Woodland Ave in Edison, the club maintains a members-only access policy, with tee times arranged through member invitation. This exclusivity extends to amenities and ensures a pace of play that maintains comfort and rhythm for all players.

Signature features include holes where tree-lined fairways funnel into greens protected by narrow bunkers, demanding precision off the tee and sharpened focus on short-game execution. The balance between playability and subtle tests makes Plainfield Country Club a reliable destination for golfers who appreciate a championship style course without unnecessary theatrics.

For those planning a visit, the course’s layout and surroundings make it ideal in mild weather when footing is firm and greens hold consistent. Whether walking or riding, players will find a measured challenge wrapped in a calm setting within a lively Central New Jersey golf region.

Course Highlights

The course features a balanced parkland design with tree-lined fairways and bunkers that demand precision. Signature holes include a mid-length par-4 that requires an accurate tee shot to avoid fairway bunkers, and a finishing par-5 where a well-placed drive sets up a risk-reward approach to an undulating green. The mature trees and subtle elevation changes provide a varied experience without overwhelming players.

My travel companion, and I had lunch here. Talk about a great view. Incredible! It’s definitely worth taking the 17 mile drive and stopping at the Pebble Beach golf course for lunch! I had a delicious salad, and the service was great!

I played this course on 12/31/24. It was carpath only so I decided to walk and it was beautiful and mesmerized by the views of the course. We were on the 18th hole when the bagpipes was played before the sunset.

It feels like playing golf in a desert oasis. It's easy to lose your ball because there's a lot of sand, but it's a really fun course. This is a course I love. If you time it right in the afternoon, you can meet a bagpiper and the burgers you eat at the cafe are really delicious. But be careful. A crow is watching your food. A highly recommended course that you must visit at least once.

This course was next level. Play early before the wind if you happen to have the choice. Fun track, will beat you up, but have a couple cold mugs and plant some seeds out there with the lads. Get Slotted and let um rip boys

Great course, beautiful views on every hole. Awesome experience! Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is its a little odd at the price for 18 holes and a cart that you don't even get bottled waters. Not having a driving range is also a bummer. The Bag Piper in the evening was awesome as well!
