Loved our stay at this historic gem! The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa is full of charm and warm hospitality. The property is historic and older, but it’s very well maintained and clean — you can feel the care put into it. The service truly stood out; the staff checked in with us throughout our stay and remembered us by name. You don’t find that kind of personal touch at many places anymore. The grounds are absolutely stunning, perfect for strolling or relaxing. We also loved the 24-hour coffee and tea service in the lobby — such a thoughtful perk! There are two well-kept tennis courts, a great pro, and plenty of free parking in the back. A truly relaxing and memorable experience.

I booked this trip for my family as a splurge and was disappointed from the moment we parked until the moment we checked out. Given the reputation of the hotel, we were willing to pay the high prices and the "resort fee", but there was no service that made any of this worthwhile. We had no help getting to our room, which was a pretty good distance with all of our bags and was also difficult to find. Once we walked into the room, it was obvious it was just a basic room with no real ammenities--not even coffee? We wanted to do the burger and beer deal at the Falcon Bar (partially because almost literally every other restaurant in Manchester was closed for 'spring break', but that's a different issue) where the tension was palpable because the one server was completely overwhelmed. We waited half an hour for our beer and about an hour for our burgers, which was pretty stressful since we were dining with our baby. My husband left in the middle to try to refill our water himself, but there wasn't any to be found anywhere on the first floor. The website mentions a huge nature preserve "on site", which you actually have to walk to off the shoulder of a road which I didn't feel comfortable doing with a dog and a baby. If I had known this, I also wouldn't have paid an additional daily fee to bring my dog. The hot tub and the sauna were not working. My husband did say he enjoyed the golf course. Overall, if you're looking for a nice relaxing trip, book somewhere else.

Loved our stay! Such a historic gem!! Great service and warm feeling. The property is historic and older but well kept and clean. We felt such warm hospitality from the team they checked in with us throughout the stay and remembered us. You don’t get that feeling everywhere you go these days.

I have heard so many wonderful things about the Equinox Spa and decided to treat my daughter and her friend to massages. This was the best gift I could have given them. They both work stressful jobs and really needed VIP treatment. They enjoyed everything the Spa had to offer and then spent the rest of the day in Manchester. After a delicious dinner at the Equinox they headed home. They left Manchester feeling like they had just had a week long vacation - totally relaxed and stress-free. Thanks to all the staff at the resort for helping me give such a wonderful gift. They will definitely be back - next time hopefully for a long weekend.

Sadly, The Equinox Resort and Spa is in dire need of updating. The buildings are so iconic but the hotel is tired, and lacks staff. No one greets you at the front door, or helps with bags like the old days. The halls are dark and the carpet is grimy. Elevator needs refurbishment. (Walls are banged up and dirty.) The front lobby/seating area has been refurbished, and is quite pleasant, but the furniture in our room was worn out and the bathroom was in dire need of upgrading. Even the outside of the building needs paint and some of the shutters are falling apart. Windows in our room were broken and grimy on sill. Staff in the bar was pleasant and service was good. Just sorry to see the state of this wonderful old place.

Equinox Hotel – Where “Rustic” Meets “Regret” We booked four rooms at the Equinox Hotel and, in hindsight, that was five too many (get it) Let us start with a positive. The check-in experience: the room key didn’t demagnetize—a miracle, considering one of the keys came pre-glazed with what appeared to be old taffy. Classy touch. As for nightlife, do not get your hopes up—the Falcon Bar closes early, presumably because even the falcon said, “I’m out—I’m flying to a real hotel.” The one evening we did attempt a visit, the place clearly had a patron who went too hard on the veggie burgers at someone’s picnic—there was a gas leak, but not from the building. I suggest asking the falcon if that smell is why he called it quits early too. The elevator? Let us just say it was a time capsule from another century—slow, creaky, and likely powered by regret. It moved at a snail’s pace. There were a set of twins waiting with us—2 years old when we hit the button. I am pretty sure they both had full beards by the time the doors opened. Our room? The faucets were broken, the fridge was on the floor like it had given up on life, and the closet could fit approximately two hangers—or one mildly ambitious scarf. The toilet seat? Vintage. And not in a charming way. Think "garage sale from 1982 next to grandmas stained heating pad" level of grime. In fact, it was clear that Lenny Roberge had his first bowel movement here and they decided to honor it like the Mona Lisa. For those who do not know, Lenny Roberge celebrated his 107th birthday and was the oldest living vet in 2021. A legend—but not the kind of legacy we needed in our bathroom. Note to potential residents…. bring your own soap. The only thing provided was a bottle of body wash that could have doubled as a degreaser. But who knew that Dawn, Palmolive, or Ajax could double as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in a pinch when I asked the staff for a bar. Shoutout to Walgreens down the street for selling bars of Dove and a fantastic Kit Kat sale of two for $2.50. Our friends did not fare any better. One of them had a towel propping up their air conditioning unit (which we assume voided the warranty). Another’s shower curtain looked like it had just been used to skin a deer—and then hung back up out of sheer defiance. That same room had a clogged sink that held onto the deerskin vibe for dear life. And if you dared open the door? Boom—90 degrees of unrelenting heat. The spa? Well, let us just say the massages came in two styles: spinal alignment or total paralysis. Heavy hands like our guest needed CPR compressions through her back. One of our guests said she would have been better off getting run over by an F-150—at least the truck would’ve come with airbags. And for all of this? You get the right and privilege to pay $500 a night, with no royalties for what was clearly another episode of Naked and Afraid. Ohhhh and I am fully aware the hotel will likely respond with the standard copy-paste bot reply: “We’re sorry your experience did not meet expectations, please contact management directly…” Save it. Between the dog wee-wee residue, the broken everything, and feeling like we were the last hot dog in the 7-11 at midnight (hot, shriveled, and forgotten), we have had enough hospitality for one lifetime. My advice? Pitch a tent in the courtyard. Just be careful of the Great Dane I saw out there proudly constructing his own Mt. Everest. Either that, or he also had too many veggie burgers. Bottom line: Between the broken fixtures, prehistoric decor, weaponized veggie burger aftermath, time-traveling elevators, and spa treatments inspired by medieval torture, the Equinox experience left us dazed, confused, and in desperate need of a tetanus shot. Avoid—unless you enjoy disappointment served with a side of mildew.
