Plainfield Country Club is a private 18-hole parkland course located near Edison, New Jersey. It offers a balanced challenge with well-contoured fairways and true, receptive greens, perfect for golfers seeking a classic and refined championship layout in a serene setting.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club presents a classic 18-hole championship test within the heart of Central New Jersey, just a short drive from Edison. This private facility balances traditional parkland design with subtle strategic challenges, offering an inviting yet competitive experience. The course’s layout flourishes among mature hardwoods and well-maintained fairways that contour gently through rolling terrain, inviting golfers of all skill levels to engage with its measured variety.

From the first tee, players encounter a measured opening stretch that rewards accuracy and smart course management. The routing encourages thoughtful shot placement over brute force, with a steady progression of holes that blend length, elevation, and subtle green complexes. The greens are notably true and receptive, shaped with careful attention to speed and break, challenging golfers to judge pace without feeling overpowered.

One of the most compelling aspects of Plainfield County Club is its balance between approachable playability and moments that demand precision. While mid- to low-handicap golfers will find several holes that test shot-making and course strategy, higher-handicap players benefit from ample fairway widths and forgiving rough. The bunkering is placed as a clear warning rather than a trap, shaping risk-reward decisions through the round.

Surrounding the course, the main clubhouse serves as a refined social hub where members gather before and after play. Facilities include a well-appointed dining room that reflects understated elegance, contributing to the club’s welcoming atmosphere.

Walking the course reveals a landscape quietly sculpted by time and care, where the natural contours influence every approach. The absence of extreme hazards allows the terrain and green complexes to take center stage in the challenge. Seasonal conditions typically showcase lush fairways and firm putting surfaces, making spring and early fall opportune times to experience the course at its best.

Plainfield Country Club stands as an enduring private retreat for players seeking a traditional parkland layout with fair yet testing characteristics. Its blend of natural terrain and thoughtful design ensures rounds are engaging for a wide range of players while maintaining a respectful nod to classic golf architecture.

Great first trip. Fried chicken dinner buffet. White meat and dark meat separate and labeled. Chicken tenders were real tenders but frozen. Good stuff all-round. Would love have to have had chicken brown gravy though. Like the stuff at KFC but better..... especially for the mash potatoes! Salad, green beans and bacon and biscuits all good too. Not a membe, was a guest. Just fyi

Staff was excellent, patrons were classy, food was ok. Ordered the pork chop, it came over cooked, presentation was decent, sides were good. Service was superb, and diningnarae was well maintained. Good choice of wine made the experience decent. Would give five stars, but the chef needs to work the menu and prep a bit more for quality and consistency. Would still recommend giving it a go, as my companions were very happy with there meals and experience.

Golf course features a great layout with plenty of elevation changes and demanding shots. Greens were perfect - all rolled fast and true. Had a nice dinner with drinks after the round. Well done LCC!
