Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club delivers a classic parkland experience through a private 18-hole championship course that balances strategic challenge and playability. Mature trees, guarded greens, and gentle elevation changes set the stage for a thoughtful round in Central New Jersey’s tranquil setting.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers a distinguished private golfing experience set amid the gently rolling terrain of Central New Jersey. This 18-hole championship layout presents a traditional parkland style that blends mature tree lines and strategically placed hazards, shaping a course where strategy and shot-making hold equal importance. The fairways gently undulate, demanding thoughtful club selection and rewarding precision from tee to green. Each hole unfolds with distinct character, framed by well-tended bunkers that guard the greens against loose approaches and tree clusters that challenge the drive.

The course reveals a balance of challenge and accessibility, designed to engage golfers across a spectrum of abilities. While the layout tests low handicappers with narrow landing areas and subtle green contours, its multiple tee boxes provide playability for mid and higher handicaps, encouraging a satisfying round for all. Players will find the course’s rhythm invites a steady pace, where careful navigation of water features on select holes adds an additional layer of tactical depth without overwhelming the experience.

Surrounding the course, the setting is marked by mature hardwoods, offering both visual appeal and a serene playing atmosphere removed from urban distractions. The clubhouse serves as a refined social hub, equipped with elegant dining and locker room facilities that blend comfort with classic country club sensibility. Members enjoy well-maintained practice areas, including a driving range and putting greens, which support thorough pre-round preparation.

Walking the course is encouraged, and its gentle terrain accommodates players who prefer to remain engaged physically throughout their round. Soft-soled, comfortable footwear is advised, especially during spring and fall when early morning dew may leave the fairways lightly damp. Plainfield Country Club maintains seasonal conditioning standards that reflect the changing climate of Central New Jersey, with spring and early summer presenting optimal turf conditions.

With its measured difficulty, pristine maintenance, and traditional aesthetic, Plainfield Country Club appeals to golfers seeking a refined private venue that respects the classical values of the game while offering a rewarding play experience.

Course Highlights

Plainfield Country Club is defined by its mature tree-lined fairways, well-positioned bunkers that protect subtly contoured greens, and the quiet water hazards that introduce tactical complexity without hindering flow. The course emphasizes shot placement over length, creating a test of precision. Its clubhouse environment reflects traditional country club sophistication, with extensive practice facilities supporting game improvement.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We absolutely loved having our wedding at The Yards! The entire experience was seamless and stress-free from start to finish. The staff was incredibly helpful, easy to work with, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Caroline truly took care of us—we didn’t have to worry about a thing on our big day! The venue itself is stunning, with gorgeous details that created the most beautiful backdrop for our wedding. The team at The Yards made the entire process so easy and enjoyable, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. If you’re looking for a breathtaking venue with an amazing team that handles everything with care and attention to detail, The Yards is the perfect choice. Highly recommend! 💕

Greens were awful. Ball spent more time in the air putting than it did rolling on the green. Understandable for this time of year. Worst customer service I've experienced at a golf course. Don't know when the egos started at The Yards, used to be a fun place to get out and play good golf. Pro Shop worker - sucked Cart Attendant - sucked Ranger - sucked

What a fun golf course experience! Starting with friendly staff at the bag drop and the check-in staff, the driving range is in great shape, and the golf course is top notch….it is a different experience compared to an 18 hole experience, and it is worth checking it out….my wife and I will be back. The fairways are in great shape and the greens run fast….compliments to the groundskeepers. The holes are not your typical up and back layout….many greens have different levels and makes it “fun” to enjoy this kind of golf. The only negative was going to holes 10-12, and we ended up with 3 groups on hole #10 tee box…. The outdoor bar for the hamburgers and hot dogs is a nice touch…. Overall, a great experience and we’ll be back to take it on again!

A great space to have an event and an even better team to work with when planning and executing your event. Caroline was amazing and very responsive throughout the planning process. Derek was a great on-site lead and helped with every need we had as it arose. A special shout out to the set-up staff and all other bartenders and support staff with the venue for helping put on a great event.

The Greenhouse at the Yards is a fabulous venue! We had the most wonderful high school sports banquet for 200 people and Caroline and her team were responsive, flexible and amazing to work with. The inside/outside environment at this venue offers so many opportunities for large, multi-age groups - so many options to keep everyone entertained and engaged. The facility comes set up and we just added the final touches. Highly recommend this venue!

We really enjoyed our round at the Yards on a sunny and Wednesday morning- actually had grass which was a treat compared to other area course and the greens were in great shape- a few sanded but that’s part of the growing game. No problem- happy to have greens that actually hold your approach shot and no false fronts!! The fairways were a little dry and the tee boxes were easily scuffed but the sprinklers should remedy that in short time. I loved the undulating greens and challenge there- plus the dog legs interesting. My hubby lost a few balls in the water hazards but from the forward tees, my ball stayed dry- I actually lost it on my last drive onto #12 as it rolled down a hill into the drink!! Bye Srixon three dots! I shot a 44 and was happy enuf with 3 pars , bogeys & a couple of doubles. Pro shop lovely ( got a visor) and helpful. Patio looked nice for lunch tho we didn’t go. Members lounge and washroom were lovely and clean. Even out on the course. A nice change to many other courses with tired , stinky washrooms. Thanks again to The Yards for a great am/pm- wished for another 6 holes !! Kerry , Canada 🇨🇦
