Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club presents an 18-hole private parkland course that blends classic layout with modern playability. Its mature hardwoods, subtle elevation changes, and true greens create a measured yet rewarding challenge for golfers across skill levels in Central New Jersey.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club stands as a refined private golf venue located just a short drive from Edison, New Jersey, within the Central New Jersey golf region. This 18-hole championship course invites players with a traditional parkland layout defined by mature hardwoods, gently rolling fairways, and well-placed bunkers that consistently demand precise shot-making. The course offers a thoughtful balance of challenge and enjoyment, accommodating a range of skill levels while rewarding strategic decisions.

From the moment golfers step onto the first tee, the meticulously maintained fairways and the interplay of elevation changes shape an engaging round. The setting is quietly framed by towering trees and well-manicured landscaping, lending a focused atmosphere that honors the game’s rich history in the region. Greens at Plainfield are often described as true and consistent, yet they present subtle contours that test putting prowess without overwhelming less experienced players.

Players seeking a course with classical design features will appreciate the straightforward routing punctuated by a handful of holes where water comes into play, requiring thoughtful club selection and careful course management. While the course length provides a respectable test for low handicappers at over 6,800 yards, high- and mid-handicap players find ample angles to approach each green with confidence.

The clubhouse serves as a welcoming center offering refined amenities, including locker rooms, dining options, and event spaces supporting both casual and formal gatherings. Walking is encouraged at Plainfield, a choice supported by relatively gentle elevations and wide fairways, while golf carts are available to assist players as needed.

Players visiting Plainfield Country Club will enjoy a quiet, elegant setting where tradition and playability are in steady balance, making it a valuable destination within the Central New Jersey golf landscape. The course’s design respects natural terrain without strong reliance on extreme features, instead inviting golfers to shape their game around classic shot values and course management.

Practical advice for visitors includes preparing for subtle green breaks and maintaining focus on positioning off the tee. With well-kept year-round conditions, Plainfield offers a mature golf experience that is both inviting and demanding in measured portions.

the Elks Lodge had a limited menu for a meeting I attended. Everyone at the table enjoyed their selection of chicken salad, lasagna, cheeseburger, and veggie lasagna! I would go back for more!

We have the family golfing and a swimming pool membership. Very friendly management and staff. The greenskeeper does an excellent job. The large, heated pool is well-maintained. The food is great. This quiet area tucked away in the Peninsula neighborhood of Iowa City is easy to access from either downtown or Interstate I-80.

My husband and I recently had our wedding reception here at the end of October. The event area has just been recently remodeled and is absolutely gorgeous. There was plenty of room for 140 of us to mingle while also having adequate seating. Peter and his staff absolutely knocked it out of the park. We had so much fun. Bartenders were great. Staff took care of everything so we could enjoy the night with our guests. Highly recommend hosting your event here!
