Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private golf experience that blends traditional parkland design with well-maintained fairways and thoughtful challenges. Located just outside Edison in Central New Jersey, this course has long been a favorite among members seeking a classic layout that rewards precision and strategic play. The rolling terrain is marked by tree-lined fairways that provide a natural frame to each hole, while gently contoured greens demand careful approach shots and delicate touch around the pins.

The course measures approximately 6,600 yards from the championship tees, with a par of 71, balancing length and shot-making opportunities. Fairways are moderately wide, making it approachable for mid- to high-handicap players, yet several holes offer enough complexity and risk-reward decisions to engage low handicappers. Bunkers are strategically placed to challenge tee shots and protect the putting surfaces, while small water hazards occasionally influence club selection and course management.

Plainfield Country Club’s setting feels rooted in tradition, with mature trees shaping sightlines and occasional elevation changes adding subtle variety to the routing. The clubhouse serves as a comfortable hub offering dining and social amenities where members gather before or after rounds. Walking the course is encouraged, reflecting the club’s appreciation of the classic game, and shoes with good traction will handle the turf underfoot throughout seasons.

Members and guests will find the course playable year-round, weather permitting, with spring and fall providing the best conditions for ball-striking. The course offers a test that avoids excessive penalization, focusing instead on rewarding strategy and shot execution. This makes it a welcoming choice for players at various stages of development while still standing out as a championship-caliber venue in Central New Jersey.

Overall, Plainfield Country Club balances enduring character with practical playability. It invites golfers who enjoy a thoughtfully crafted parkland setting that remains demanding without overwhelming. Super nice upscale private club. Food was really good and the ambiance was perfect for my meeting. Valet parking big plus. Long waiting list to become a member and of course, you gotta have lots of dough to be part of club. When I win the lotto...I will join. Very lovely place indeed!!♥

I rarely leave reviews, but after my recent experience at this country club, I felt compelled to share my concerns in hopes of encouraging much-needed improvements. To start, the cleanliness of the facility was shockingly below the standard one would expect from a so-called “prestigious” club. Upon entering the main lobby, the floors were visibly dirty, with dust and debris collected in corners and along baseboards—clearly neglected for some time. The furniture in the lounge area was stained and worn, and several of the chairs had crumbs and sticky residue on the armrests, suggesting they hadn’t been wiped down in days, if not longer. The restrooms were particularly appalling. I visited both the men’s restroom near the pool area and the one by the clubhouse restaurant. Both had overflowing trash bins, water pooled around the sinks, and unpleasant odors that made it difficult to stay inside for more than a moment. Toilets were unflushed, and there were no paper towels in the dispensers. It felt more like a public rest stop than a private country club. Moving on to the dining facilities—the restaurant tables were not cleared in a timely manner, and some still had plates with leftover food and used napkins from previous guests. The floors were sticky, and flies hovered around the bar area, which was especially off-putting. Even the outdoor seating area was riddled with trash, cigarette butts, and old drink cups left unattended. Despite these issues, the club continues to charge premium membership rates and offers services that fall drastically short of expectations. It is genuinely baffling how the management justifies the high fees when the basic upkeep and hygiene of the facility are so poor. For the price being charged, members and guests deserve a well-maintained, polished environment—not one that feels neglected and unsanitary. Customer service was mediocre at best, with staff appearing overwhelmed and unmotivated. While a few individuals tried their best, it was evident that poor management and lack of proper training contribute heavily to the overall disorganization and messiness of the club. In conclusion, this club is overpriced, poorly managed, and nowhere near the caliber it claims to represent. Until a serious investment is made into cleanliness, staff training, and overall operations, I cannot in good conscience recommend this club to anyone.

This place is amazing! The food is picture perfect, so well prepared and presented, and tasty! The staff is on point 100% of the time. We had an event with 30 guests. Appetizers in one room, sit down dinner in another. The white glove service for our passed appetizers was impeccable. Dinner was amazing. The staff kept the drinks flowing. I can't say enough good things about this experience except...We'll be back!

This country club is incredibly overpriced for what it offers. The entire property is poorly maintained—trash on the grounds, stained furniture, dirty restrooms, and an overall lack of cleanliness. Dining areas were messy and unhygienic, with leftover food and flies everywhere. For the price they charge, the standards should be much higher. Very disappointing experience.
