Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club combines classic parkland style with strategic challenges across 18 carefully maintained holes. This private layout offers a member-focused experience where precision and thoughtful course management come to the fore amid serene tree-lined fairways.

Course Overview

Located just outside Edison in Central New Jersey, Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole championship layout reserved exclusively for members. This private club presents a classic parkland design that balances tradition and playability across gently rolling terrain framed by carefully maintained mature trees. The course challenges low-handicap golfers with strategic bunkering and contoured greens that require precision, yet it remains approachable for a broad range of abilities thanks to generous fairways and multiple tee options.

Each hole flows naturally through a landscape that shifts between open vistas and tighter, tree-lined corridors. Subtle elevation changes influence shot selection throughout and encourage thoughtful navigation rather than sheer power. Bunkers appear frequently around the greens, urging players to weigh risk and reward, while the greens themselves feature undulations that invite creative putting lines. Weather conditions often play a role, with breezes adding an element of unpredictability to tee shots and approach shots.

Plainfield Country Club’s clubhouse serves as both a social hub and a practical base, offering amenities including dining facilities, locker rooms, and practice areas that ease the transition between rounds. Walking is encouraged, with smooth paths and well-placed resting spots supporting players on foot; proper golf shoes with firm traction are recommended for navigating the varied grass and occasional slopes comfortably.

The course’s signature holes stand out for their thoughtful integration into the landscape. Several par 4s provide a blend of challenge and visual appeal, where bunkers guard well-placed pin positions and tree lines frame compelling sightlines. Though the club operates with a focus on member experience, guest play is sometimes possible through member sponsorship.

For golfers seeking a private setting with a classic New Jersey parkland character, Plainfield Country Club offers a well-maintained, thoughtfully sculpted venue that rewards strategic play. This course embodies a restrained elegance in design and atmosphere, ensuring every round demands focus while providing enduring satisfaction.

Nice place but the cathedral is under construction so we didn’t really get to see it. If you want a nice view of the ozark, then you should definitely check this place out

Absolutely top notch everything. Every person we encountered did a magnificent job of making us feel welcome and appreciated starting with a phone call at the start of the day all the way through to the guys unloading our cart at the end of the day. Fantastic track, absurd views, super fun cart path... I don't know how it could be more fun unless John Daly was at the tee box on 4 slapping everyone on the back and telling you to "Go get em." The carts have ball washers in them. We all thought that was cool but seeing as the entire course is clean enough to eat off of no one ever used it, and you probably won't either. Totally worth the price. Bucket list stuff

Beautiful scenery, employees very helpful & friendly. It was crowded, but lines moved smoothly & fairly quick. Staff helped with wheelchair assistance.

This is a spectacular place. There is so much to see and do. We ate Arnie’s Barn and had drinks at the Buffalo Bar. The museum was outstanding. The only improvements I could suggest would be a few places to cut the tour shorter for people like me. I am a 100% disabled Army veteran with 3 bones removed from my left foot, and my tibial tendon shortened. I love this museum, but I would come more often if I didn't have to walk so far.
