Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole, private golf experience set within Central New Jersey’s quiet suburban landscape near Edison. This traditional championship course presents a parkland style layout carved among mature hardwoods and gentle rolling terrain, creating both a visual and strategic challenge. Players will find fairways that thread thoughtfully between clusters of trees, while greens are often guarded by well-positioned bunkers that demand precision on approach shots. Our experience at this course was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. We arrived an hour early for our tee times and still teed off 20 minutes late due to delays caused by the groups ahead of us. Despite that, our pace of play was reasonable and we were well within the expected time to finish our second 18. Out of nowhere, we were approached rudely by staff, given no prior warning, and told we were being kicked off the course for playing too slow. The tone was unnecessarily aggressive and condescending, and we were offered no opportunity to explain before being forced to leave — even though we had paid for two full tee times and hadn’t even started the back 18. What made it worse is that after all this, they admitted we weren’t actually the problem. The marshal told us that they realized the group in front of us was to blame, but since those players had already left, they said they had to “kick someone off for optics.” That “someone” was us — even though we did nothing wrong. We received no apology, no refund, and no accountability from the course. Just poor communication, unprofessional behavior, and a complete disregard for paying customers. There are too many other golf courses that treat their players with respect — this one is absolutely not worth your time or money.

Very nice 9-hole track. might leave the driver in the bag and the holes are mostly on the shirt side and narrow. I would play this course again.

Fun short course that is never easy! Fairways and greens are in the best shape I’ve ever seen them! Highly recommend this as a good place to play outside for two hours!

Extremely disappointing experience. The group in front of us teed off 20 minutes late, held everyone up, and then quit after 6 holes. We followed at the proper pace of play and were stock behind them until the 6th hole, but somehow we were the ones blamed and asked to leave with only about 20 minutes left in our round. When I spoke with the staff, the guy in the clubhouse actually told me it was about “optics”—and since someone had to be blamed, they chose our group simply because we were the furthest along on the course. Seriously? I’ve never been asked to leave a course early in all my years of golfing. If you play here and see a group start late in front of you, just know you might be penalized for their mistakes. Totally unfair, poorly managed, and honestly insulting. Won’t be returning.

This place is a complete joke they kicked us off the course on the second to last hole because the group in front of us was playing slow. We were on pace the entire time we followed every rule we didn’t hold anyone up we weren’t the problem and somehow we got punished for it. The staff clearly has no clue how to manage a course no communication no logic no respect for the players who are actually doing what they’re supposed to. The staff could not be worse they were looking for an escape goat and blamed it all on us for them having poor scheduling. If you like wasting your money getting disrespected and being treated like garbage for following the rules then this is the perfect place for you. Otherwise avoid this place at all costs it’s pathetic and not worth a single dollar.

The course is in good shape! We scheduled last minute tee time and had a blast. The staff was super helpful and friendly. Can’t recommend this course enough. It’s challenging and has some nice scenic views. Greens were looking great too!
