Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club presents an 18-hole private parkland course featuring mature hardwood-lined fairways and strategic water hazards. This Central New Jersey layout balances challenge with playability, offering a refined experience suited to a range of skill levels.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers a refined golfing experience in the heart of Central New Jersey, just minutes from Edison. This private 18-hole championship course invites members and their guests to engage with a layout distinguished by its traditional parkland design. Mature hardwoods frame each fairway, while carefully placed bunkers and water features create strategic challenges that reward thoughtful shot-making more than sheer power. The rolling terrain demands attention to club selection and course management, stimulating play for golfers who appreciate nuance over brute force.

From tee to green, the landscape breathes a quiet elegance, with long sight lines and greens that showcase subtle contouring. While the course demands precision, it remains approachable for golfers with various skill levels, making it an appealing destination for those seeking both competitive and leisurely rounds. The playability is enhanced by well-maintained fairways and smooth, true greens that encourage fast, accurate putting.

Beyond the course, the clubhouse provides a classic yet comfortable setting for relaxation and socializing. Its facilities include dining options where members unwind after rounds, drawing on a tradition of warm hospitality. Plainfield Country Club emphasizes walking whenever possible, allowing golfers to fully connect with the layout and its natural rhythm; the gently undulating topography makes for a pleasant stroll, though solid footwear is recommended.

Strategically integrated water hazards come into play on a handful of holes, demanding calculated risk, while tree-lined corridors challenge directional control. The par-4 14th stands out as a test of nerve and accuracy, with a narrow landing zone bordered by bunkers and a green guarded by subtle slopes that test putting skills. Seasonal conditions in New Jersey mean spring and early fall offer the most balanced playing conditions, avoiding the summer humidity and winter chill.

For those planning a visit, understanding the private nature of the club is essential. Membership and guest privileges ensure an intimate golf environment, free from overcrowding. Plainfield Country Club captures the spirit of traditional private golf in New Jersey with a course that rewards strategic thinking, technical skill, and an appreciation for its understated elegance.

Super quiet, tasty lunch, reasonable prices - my daughter and I stopped here on a road trip. I use to work at the architecture firm that designed the whole place and have always wanted to see it first hand. It is a beautiful project.

The 2025 menu update for the restaurant and grill at Broken Top Club is GREAT! The new chef has made noteworthy changes. A welcomed change up in the selection, presentation and the lowered prices make this my easy go-to. Thanks BTC! I'm loving the Salmon bowl, my latest favorite.

Took the wife out for Valentine's dinner as usual and wanted to find an upscale restaurant with great food and exceptional service. Broken Top Club didn't disappoint !! My wife had the filet Oscar with naked potato and I chose the New york steak and added the Oscar 😁 with a mushroom risotto. For desert we shared a Marionberry cheesecake that was awesome.
