Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club presents a classic parkland experience with 18 holes of strategic play framed by mature trees and carefully manicured greens. This private championship layout in Central New Jersey balances challenge and accessibility for golfers seeking focus and quiet refinement.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers a refined golfing experience within the heart of Central New Jersey, just a short drive from Edison. This private, 18-hole championship course stretches over 6,700 yards with a par of 72. Set amid gently rolling terrain, the course exemplifies classic parkland design with tree-lined fairways, contoured greens, and strategically placed bunkers that quietly challenge every stroke.

Players will find a layout that rewards thoughtful shot-making over sheer power. The routing guides golfers through a variety of holes that balance risk and reward without overwhelming lower handicappers. Elevation changes are subtle but enough to keep sightlines interesting, and the greens consistently hold firm, encouraging an accurate approach and deft putting. The course’s mature hardwoods frame several holes, their leaves brushing in the breeze and occasionally shifting the light as afternoon moves toward evening.

Amenities at the club include a well-appointed clubhouse featuring dining options and locker rooms that cater to members’ comfort before and after rounds. Practice facilities include a driving range and putting areas maintained with meticulous attention to detail, ideal for warming up or refining short game skills. Plainfield's private setting offers a calm environment where focus on the game comes naturally.

Walkers will appreciate firm but forgiving turf underfoot, and the layout promotes a steady pace of play. While seasoned golfers will enjoy the subtle strategic demands, the course remains approachable for intermediate players aiming to improve.

All told, Plainfield Country Club combines traditional design principles with a serene New Jersey landscape. Those fortunate enough to play here can expect a day where the course’s quiet challenges push their best shots forward against the backdrop of an inviting and well-cared-for golfing retreat.

I was there for a business meeting and, unfortunately, did not get to golf. The clubhouse is beautiful. I did walk out on the greens, and they were meticulously maintained. They clearly take pride in the course even when it is 100 degrees out. I will be back.

Burger was delicious and the prime rib served to perfection. Chef should get a raise. The medium rare was right on, and the meat was as it should be.

Relative lives in the community, went here for dinner. One is the best burgers I have had in recent memory. Perfectly medium rare, bacon perfectly crispy. And an absolutely delicious sidecar cocktail.

A friend of mine lives out in Redmond and is a member at this club. He was able to get us onto the course and we had a great time. The driving range is right next to the club house along with the putting green. The course is very nice and well taken cared of. We ordered food for the back nine and it was ready by the time we made the turn. We had the cheese burger and club sandwich which were both great. The only thing is the rental clubs are a bit old so if you're picky about that sort of thing then I would recommend you bring your own clubs.
