Plainfield Country Club presents a timeless 18-hole parkland layout that balances strategic challenge with approachable playability. Located near Edison, New Jersey, this private championship course features mature hardwoods, carefully crafted bunkers, and a clubhouse that complements the quiet, refined golfing environment.
Course Overview
Plainfield Country Club offers a refined golf experience set against the subtly rolling landscape of Central New Jersey. This private, 18-hole championship course is crafted around classic parkland principles, featuring tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering, and well-maintained greens that reward thoughtful play. The course weaves through gently undulating terrain that challenges golfers to manage elevation changes without demanding extreme physical exertion, making it approachable for a broad range of skill levels while still providing enough challenge for low handicappers seeking precision and strategy.
From the first tee, golfers encounter well-defined holes that combine length and accuracy, with generous landing areas offset by bunkers that guard the approach. The greens vary in contour, often requiring careful reading and a steady putting stroke. Seasonal fluctuations influence play, particularly in spring and fall when firm turf and cooler temperatures underline the importance of course management.
Plainfield’s setting is characterized more by understated elegance than dramatic vistas. Mature hardwoods line many holes, framing pin placements and contributing to the quiet concentration the course encourages. While the views do not sweep across expansive horizons, the intimacy of the layout ensures that every hole offers a distinct perspective and a sense of place.
The main clubhouse serves as a welcoming hub, featuring comfortable dining options and locker room amenities suited to members who value tradition alongside modern convenience. Walking is encouraged throughout the course, with smooth cart paths and manageable distances between holes. Players aiming to walk will find firm footing and a pace that supports a fulfilling round without undue fatigue.
A highlight of Plainfield Country Club lies in its balance of playability and challenge. Golfers of various skill levels can engage with the course’s demands, whether carving out a score or simply savoring a quiet day on well-kept fairways. The club maintains a strong commitment to course conditions and member service, ensuring a polished, inviting environment for both competitive golf and leisurely rounds.
Course Highlights
The course is noted for its mature hardwood-lined fairways, precise bunkering around well-contoured greens, and a layout that rewards strategic shot placement. While not architecturally attributed to a specific prominent designer, the course maintains a traditional parkland style emphasizing balance between challenge and enjoyment.

Fantastic experience. I was there for my brother and new sisters-in-law’s wedding. I stayed on property in the 2-queen rooms. First thing I did was squeeze in 9 holes on Thursday afternoon. That’s correct, they only have 9 holes but who cares when you could be done playing easily in an hour and a half, even while spending about half that time looking for my brothers erratic golf shots. Next checked in, and had a pleasant experience at check -in. Now on to the rehearsal and the big day. Anne was absolutely fantastic. She was great to work with, and she made the day unforgettable for the newlyweds. A big thanks to Noah for helping shuttle the crew to picture locations. Hats off to you Scott, you have a great facility, and even better people.

Nice simple 9 hole course. I think it is very overpriced, over $35 for 9 with a cart. The condition was very good and an easy walk.

My husband and I had our wedding here this past weekend, 8/27/22. I have nothing but good things to say about Spring Brook as a place and the whole team I worked with. Anne and Noah the event coordinators were a life saver. There were so many things that went wrong on the day of the wedding (nothing with spring Brook) weather, vendors, family issues, etc. Anne and Noah took care of everything. They took so much off of my plate as a bride with a thousand other things on her mind. The outdoor tent ended up being our ceremony and reception space due to unexpected thunder storms but I wouldn’t change anything even if I could. The tent was beautiful and intimate. All of our guests loved the atmosphere during the wedding. The food was DELICIOUS. We got so many compliments on how good our food was. All in all, I’m so happy we chose spring Brook as our wedding venue. I would choose it 1000 times over if I had to redo it.

Restaurant & Bar Review only: great burgers, sandwiches and specials. Among the best deep fried cheese curds you'll find anywhere. Not the best pizza, but that's not what they claim is their best. Lots of "regulars" that are treated with care, but the tourists and visitors get the same great service. Good drinks with decent rail brands and made with a solid pour plus a good number of tap beer options. Prices run a bit higher than some places but the service, atmosphere and quality make it worth it.
