Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club presents a classic interpretation of the traditional parkland course, offering an 18-hole challenge set against the tranquil backdrop of Central New Jersey’s mature woodlands. Located a short drive from Edison, this private facility invites members to test their skills on a course that blends strategic design with natural features, encouraging thoughtful shot selection across every hole.

The layout spans just over 6,700 yards from the back tees, playing to a par 72 that rewards precision rather than brute force. Fairways are framed by towering trees that influence trajectory and club choice, while bunkers are placed thoughtfully to guard critical landing zones and add visual drama without overwhelming the playability. The greens strike a balance between encouraging birdie opportunities and demanding careful approach shots, with subtle undulations that require a steady putting stroke.

Players of varying skill levels will find the course approachable without sacrificing strategic depth. The terrain offers gentle elevation changes that provide variety and a graceful flow throughout the round. While the course primarily suits seasoned players aiming to sharpen their game, intermediate golfers will appreciate the forgiving fairway widths and well-maintained turf.

Beyond the course, the clubhouse stands as a comfortable hub for social gatherings and post-round relaxation. Its amenities include dining facilities known for classic fare and spaces designed to foster community among members. Walking the course is encouraged; firm footing on the well-kept paths ensures an invigorating experience, though golfers should prepare for a mix of sun and shade throughout the round.

Plainfield Country Club maintains a focus on exclusive membership, emphasizing tradition and consistency in both course conditions and club atmosphere. For those planning a visit, summer and early autumn provide the most reliable weather for a full round that highlights the course’s natural scenery without seasonal interruptions. This course provides a polished, private golf experience that speaks to both heritage and playability in Central New Jersey’s landscape.

Delicious food. We went for supper (rabbit sausage over crème rose sauce covering pasta ($12). Then we returned for breakfast the following morning for their eggs ranchero ($6). Really hard to beat the prices!

Wonderful experience at the Canyon Club at Four Hills! We were part of a fundraising event for the New Mexico Kidney Foundation. We did this in correlation with your Pickle ball club at the Canyon Club. Very pleased with this location and the many helping hands!
