Course Overview
Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private golf experience set just outside Edison, New Jersey, embodying the classic American parkland style. The course weaves through gently rolling terrain, with mature trees framing fairways that demand both strategic shot-making and thoughtful course management. Its layout balances challenge and accessibility, catering to a diverse membership eager to test their skills without feeling overwhelmed. The conditioning remains consistently excellent, with fast, true greens accompanied by thoughtfully placed bunkers and water hazards that reveal themselves gradually, encouraging a steady pace of play.
Players approach each hole with a clear strategy, as the course’s design rewards accuracy off the tee and precise iron play through subtle elevation changes and well-defined landing zones. While low handicappers will appreciate the course’s shot-shaping demands and varied pin placements, higher handicaps find forgiving fairway contours and approachable greens that invite confident putting.
The setting emphasizes natural beauty without distraction. Slopes and stands of native trees frame the holes, while occasional open vistas provide brief moments of visual relief. The clubhouse anchors the experience with traditional charm and modern amenities, including a well-appointed lounge and dining area that overlooks select holes, perfect for socializing after a round. Membership affords access to practice facilities equipped for short game and driving-range work, ensuring players can sharpen skills on-site.
Walking enthusiasts will find comfortable conditions for on-foot play, aided by well-maintained paths and moderate topography. Carts are available but many members prefer strolling the course to engage fully with its rhythm and pace. The seasonal conditions favor spring through fall play, with early morning tee times offering peace and solitude rare in a suburban setting.
Plainfield’s quietly competitive layout and attentive maintenance make it a reliable destination for golfers seeking tradition and quality in Central New Jersey. It’s a course where focus meets camaraderie, set against woodlands that change character with the seasons, providing a grounded yet engaging round for all levels.
Course Highlights
The course’s parkland design is accented by mature tree lines and subtle elevation shifts that demand precision. Notable for its strategic bunkering and water hazards that introduce risk-reward decisions, several mid-length par 4s challenge players to balance distance with accuracy. The clubhouse’s traditional architecture provides a warm atmosphere with views over key holes. Well-maintained practice facilities support comprehensive player development.

We recently had the pleasure of photographing a November wedding at Aronimink Golf Course, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The venue is historically stunning, with the lovely golf course providing a beautiful backdrop for our photos. The autumn colors added a magical touch to every shot we captured. Rita and her staff at Aronimink Golf Course were exceptional—professional, friendly, and incredibly easy to work with. Their attention to detail and dedication to making the day perfect for the couple was evident throughout the event. We highly recommend Aronimink Golf Course as a wedding venue. The breathtaking scenery, history and outstanding staff made this wedding a joy to photograph. We can't wait to return for future events!

Beautiful course! Pristine condition, greens were perfect, several tough pin placements but the course was set up well. The short par 4’s force you to be creative but give you a chance for birdie with a good shot off the tee. A couple tough 200+yd par 3’s, one a little down hill into the wind playing 235. The clubhouse is a work of art! Eating lunch on the patio overlooking the course was perfect start to the round. Our caddies were great too, bery helpful reading the quick greens! It was a great experience all around!! Big thanks to our host Mr. Harvey!

Our Annual Realtor Association Meeting was held here today (10/26/23). The venue, staff, and service were good, and the complimentary valet parking a nice perk. The only concern was the subpar cellphone reception. However, wifi was available, but I was still unable to send photos while on the wifi. Not an issue for a few hours, and I would still recommend this place as a venue for your events.
