Course Overview
Lochmere Country Club offers an 18-hole challenge set within the rolling terrain of Tilton, New Hampshire. This private layout combines a traditional parkland design with subtle elevation shifts and strategically positioned hazards that demand thoughtful strategy at every stroke. The course winds through mature trees and gently contoured fairways, inviting players to experience a blend of natural beauty and competitive golf that rewards precision over power.
The overall routing balances approachable holes with those crafted to test mid-to-low handicappers, especially in approach shots and putting. The greens at Lochmere are renowned for their speed and subtle breaks, peppered with ridges and slopes that require careful reading and steady touch. Several holes present short par fours where accuracy off the tee sets up scoring opportunities, while the back nine heats up with more complex green sites and challenging undulations.
Maintenance standards here remain consistently high, with manicured tee boxes and well-kept fairways that hold their shape throughout the season. A variety of natural elements come into play, including strategically placed bunkers and small water features that catch errant shots and add to the course's tactical demands.
Beyond the layout itself, Lochmere’s clubhouse provides a casual, welcoming atmosphere with a tavern known for a robust beer selection and a friendly space to unwind post-round. Golfers often praise the attentive staff and the pace of play, which is actively managed to maintain a smooth experience even during busy days.
For those planning a visit, walking is encouraged and manageable, although players should prepare for gentle hills and bring appropriate footwear for variable New England weather. Although the course carries a private membership policy, guest rounds can be arranged via member invitation, making it an attractive destination for discerning golfers in the region.
Lochmere Country Club combines a classic design with modern upkeep, offering a rewarding test that stays enjoyable across skill levels. Those keen on courses with subtle complexity in their putting surfaces and a course that keeps them thinking on every hole will find plenty to appreciate here.

Wow! What a great course! Don't let the club house fool you, this is a great course to play! Tee boxes and fairways were in excellent shape. Greens are quick and run true but have lots of ridges, mounds, bumps, etc. Thankfully I played with a member who was able to tell me areas to avoid. Pace was nice and quick with rangers keeping a friendly eye on everyone. Just a couple drawbacks. There were two short par fours that were an iron off the tee and then a wedge. Not my favorite type of holes. There definitely needs more signage between a few holes. I would have been lost with out my partner.

Such an amazing course. The front nine warms you up to the insane back nine - good luck putting the back nine! It was so difficult! But worth it. Get out here and play. Aug 2021

Decent course for the price. It's no Owl's Nest. The ranger was very unwelcoming . Got told to pick up the pace after 5 holes and about an hour of time. We caught up to the group in front two holes later. When we got up to #13 there was a group of 8 playing the hole. After we finished #13 we were told to keep up with our pace. Laughable and we won't be back.
