Country Club of New Hampshire

North Sutton, New Hampshire, USACentral New England

The Country Club of New Hampshire provides an approachable yet thoughtfully designed 18-hole parkland course set within rolling hills. Known for smooth greens and tree-lined fairways, it welcomes golfers of all levels seeking a rewarding round in a relaxed atmosphere.

Course Overview

Situated in the scenic rolling hills of North Sutton, the Country Club of New Hampshire offers an 18-hole golf experience that blends approachable challenge with natural terrain. This semi-private course unfolds across a classic parkland layout, where gentle elevation changes and tree-lined fairways invite players of varied abilities to test their skills. The course’s routing threads through the lush landscape, presenting a straightforward yet thoughtful design that encourages strategic tee shots and accurate approaches.

Players will find a welcoming atmosphere aimed at all levels, from beginners seeking a manageable course to more experienced golfers ready to navigate undulating greens and carefully placed bunkers. The interplay between fairway width and subtle hazards demands precision, particularly on the mid and closing holes where the terrain tightens. Though consistent footing can occasionally prove tricky due to natural undulations on tee boxes and fairways, the setting rewards patient shots and deliberate play.

A notable attribute is the course’s smooth rolling greens, which require focus on speed and line as they offer subtle breaks influenced by the land’s contours. Bunkers scattered strategically around key greens guard the scoring zones without overwhelming less-experienced players. Seasonal conditions vary and can affect surface firmness, so players should prepare accordingly with flexible club selection.

The clubhouse serves as a comfortable hub with dining options that have received positive remarks, providing a solid place to relax after your round. Golf carts and rental clubs are available, and the staff are known for their friendly, accommodating service.

Those planning a visit should be aware that the course encourages walking whenever weather permits, with terrain that rewards steady pace and attention to footing. The surrounding Kearsarge Valley adds a quiet charm, enhancing the overall outing for those looking to combine golf with a peaceful setting.

While improvements in maintenance have been noted over time, players are advised to approach certain areas with a mindset of patience due to some uneven lies on tee boxes and fairways. Despite this, the Country Club of New Hampshire remains a solid choice for golfers seeking an engaging round in central New England’s countryside.

First time at this course. I was really disappointed with my experience here and I wouldn’t consider playing it again. I wish I had more good things to say, the staff were friendly but the conditions are really brutally bad. There isn’t a flat lie to be found on any of the tee boxes, they are in really bad shape. The fairways have huge dead spots littering from tee to green and random patches of thick tall grass. However greens are truly what make the course unplayable tho, they too have random dead patches and bare dirt all over them making the ball skitter and bounce all over. The bunkers too were very poor, huge rocks the size of golf balls in almost every one. If you are considering playing this course, my advice simply would be don’t.

The Country Club of New Hampshire is a great all-around HH experience! ! The staff are friendly and welcoming. The parking was easy access and level up. Restaurant special was grilled turkey & bacon..delicious . And the golf course..fun for all levels of players, nice tee boxes with a variety of fairway layouts, and smooth rolling greens that can handle hot approach shots. A great positive experience for us. We'll be back 😃

Really fun and challenging course! Super friendly staff, decent rental clubs and well maintained golf carts. Love the Kearsarge area and the setting for the course is beautiful! Check it out! Challenging for a beginner like me. Greens were a little bumpy in spots, made it tough!

Honestly, I don't know how the Country Club of New Hampshire stays in business based on my recent customer service experience. Three weeks ago, I submitted their online form for a "Stay and Play" package in June--one night and 36 holes of golf. I never received a response. I called and spoke with Zak, who told me they were busy that weekend but would check with his manager and get back to me. A week went by with no follow-up. I called again, spoke with Zak, and was told he was waiting on a group of 18 to confirm and would call me Friday with an update. Once again, a week later no call. I called and left a message on voicemail for Zak. For the last time, no response. Fifteen years ago, my brother and I had a fantastic weekend here celebrating my 50th birthday, but sadly, the Country Club of New Hampshire has gone downhill since then. We'll be taking our business to another course and hotel.

Only reason I’m giving two stars is because the staff is excellent, very friendly and accommodating. The course however….is in rough shape. It’s unfortunate because I’ve played this course on and off for the past 15 years and it use to be prime but in the past years it has gone off the cliff…rocks/boulders in all bunkers, bare spots all over the fairways, tee boxes horrid and greens are unbearable. Really unfortunate. I know this course was recently bought out and I hope the new owners read this post and put in the time, effort and money into making this course a gem again.
