The Oaks Golf Course at Margaritaville Lake Resort

Osage Beach, Missouri, USACentral Missouri

The Oaks Golf Course at Margaritaville Lake Resort presents a scenic 18-hole challenge marked by rolling fairways, strategic water hazards, and welcoming resort amenities. Designed to engage players across skill levels, this course blends natural contours with thoughtful layout for a rewarding round near Lake of the Ozarks.

Course Overview

The Oaks Golf Course at Margaritaville Lake Resort offers a vibrant 18-hole layout that combines natural rolling terrain with strategic challenge, making it a memorable test for golfers of varying skill levels. Located near Osage Beach, Missouri, this public resort course spreads across a landscape where gentle hills and mature trees frame fairways that flow steadily between water hazards and carefully placed bunkers. The design balances approachability with strategic depth, inviting players to engage every club in their bag while rewarding thoughtful shot placement.

Players encounter a mix of par-3s, 4s, and 5s that reveal the course’s subtle complexity. Several holes require precision to skirt lakes and creeks that come into play, particularly in the latter nine where water runs alongside multiple greens and fairways. The greens themselves offer moderate contours, testing putting strokes without overwhelming the golfer. While the fairways roll through picturesque glades of native flora, they maintain a robust playing surface that holds up well even during busy periods.

The Oaks accommodates resort guests and local visitors with an inviting clubhouse featuring a pro shop, dining options, and well-maintained practice facilities, including a driving range and putting green. Golf carts dressed with coolers circulate throughout, easing movement on this expansive course set against the backdrop of Lake of the Ozarks.

Walkers will find paths generally smooth but should be prepared for subtle elevation changes and occasional uphill approaches. The course’s layout encourages strategic thinking over brute force, appealing particularly to mid-handicap players seeking a blend of scenic beauty and challenge. Peak seasons bring lush fairways and firm greens, while off-peak rounds offer a quieter pace and a closer connection to the natural setting.

Navigating the course is straightforward, though modest improvements in signage would enhance flow on the back nine. Service throughout the resort reflects genuine hospitality, with staff committed to a relaxed yet polished atmosphere. For golfers who appreciate a layout that rewards thoughtful play amid lakefront surroundings, The Oaks Golf Course provides an engaging experience that complements the resort’s leisure offerings.

Course Highlights

The Oaks features several holes that wind alongside water hazards, notably the back nine where lakes and creeks influence strategy. The course’s rolling fairways blend with native hardwoods and open meadows, creating variety in shot shapes and challenges. Resort amenities including beverage carts and a pro shop add to the overall enjoyment. Despite some signage improvements needed on the back nine, the course provides a satisfying balance of challenge and scenic calm.

My friends and I come play this course every time I come in town and it’s always great. Unfortunately weather got in the way this year and we started our tee time about 2 hours later because of the rain. The fantastic news is Andrea was there to make us feel at home and made us the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. Incredible service.

Nice course well kept, fairly difficult a lot of rolling fairways. Could use a little better sign mapping on the back nine for navigation. All in all very enjoyable experience.

Awesome course. Not long but still challenging. Got to hit it pretty straight. Lots of elevation change. Pace of play was pretty slow my only negative. Greens were great.

This is one of the only courses that helped us out with slow groups ahead. I greatly appreciated that. Punched greens that were fast, but not rolling smooth at all? Nice par 3s. Fun holes. I would guess mid season it is a great course. Apple Maps didn’t take us to the right place. I would recommend using google maps for that.

Itappeared that a sprinkler system was being installed or under repair, which might explain the poor conditions. Tee boxes were full of weeds. Greens had so much sand on them it was hard to judge speed. The cart was very nice and having cooler was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
