Course Overview

Dancing Rabbit Golf Club, located in Philadelphia, Mississippi, offers two distinct 18-hole layouts designed to challenge and inspire golfers of varying abilities. The Club’s courses weave through a landscape shaped by gentle rolling terrain and mature timber, creating a setting that combines playability with moments of visual intrigue. The Azalea and Dogwood courses provide contrasting experiences: Azalea’s tighter fairways and elevated greens demand precision, while Dogwood encourages more aggressive shot-making with wider landing areas and strategic bunkering.

Both courses reflect a parkland style defined by lush fairways and ample tree coverage, allowing players to engage in a thoughtful game where course management is rewarded. Bunkers guard many of the greens, compelling attention to approach shots, while water hazards appear sparingly, preserving a rhythm that keeps pace steady. The terrain’s natural undulations subtly influence shot trajectories, and the afternoon breezes introduce an extra test as the day matures.

Dancing Rabbit Golf Club targets a broad golfing audience, balancing the demands of experienced low handicappers with setups that remain inviting to mid and higher handicap players. Course yardages stretch from moderate to challenging lengths, offering multiple tee options suited to diverse skill levels. Golfers should prepare for some walks between holes in shaded but sometimes uneven conditions; sturdy walking shoes enhance comfort.

Beyond the fairways, the recently completed clubhouse enhances the overall experience with polished amenities including a well-regarded restaurant and veranda overlooking portions of the course. Service staff have a reputation for professionalism fostering a welcoming atmosphere. Players can also find convenient hydration stops strategically placed on the courses to maintain stamina during their rounds.

While some recent reviews note challenges with greens maintenance, the underlying layouts remain thoughtfully crafted and scenic, rewarding strategic play and patience. Those planning a visit will benefit from early tee times to enjoy firmer greens and calmer air. Dancing Rabbit Golf Club impresses with its distinctive Southern charm and varied golfing experience, making it a worthy stop for players exploring Mississippi’s golf landscape.

Course Highlights

The Azalea course is known for its tight fairways and elevated greens that reward precision, while the Dogwood course offers wider landing areas encouraging aggressive play. Both courses are characterized by a parkland layout with strategic bunkers protecting greens and mature tree lines framing many holes. Recent clubhouse renovations have enhanced the player experience with high-quality dining and hospitality.

What happened to the greens? Played the Azelia and was a disappointment. Most had large repaired spots, and extremely sandy. Had already paid $79 asked for a refund or rain check for 9 and was denied. Used to be a great course this is sad to see. Fairways and bunkers were ok, just the greens were unputtable.

We played the Azaleas 4.30.25 and the greens were horrible. The price was reasonable at $79 if the greens were decent. I wish they had told us about the greens when we booked the tee time.

I have golfed in all 48 states, and this course is “on par” with the best! The layout is gorgeously created. They have one bathroom station per 9 holes and has an ice /water machine! My only complaint is it didn’t seem top tier maintained in the bunkers (grass) and fairways (dead spots) and the greens were sanded (June). Room for improvement I suppose.

Spoiler alert ...even though the facilities and staff are very nice, the courses are in very poor condition as of May 20, 2025. There are many greens with large sand spots, dead grass, new sod, or large sod cutouts with no sod. Many sand traps had weeds, hard packed and not raked. This was especially true on the Azalea course. Otherwise, if you just want to see a scenic and challenging layout, go for it!
