Course Overview

Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Philadelphia, Mississippi unfolds across commanding natural terrain, providing an 18-hole challenge that blends classic Southern golf characteristics with a hint of rustic charm. This semi-private facility invites golfers to navigate a layout distinguished by rolling fairways that thread through native grasses, stands of towering pines, and strategic water features. The course’s parkland style offers a measured test for players seeking variety in shot selection and course management.

Set within a landscape that reflects the gentle undulations of Mississippi’s woodlands, each hole asks for precision rather than brute force. Fairways demand thoughtful placement to avoid sandy bunkers and natural hazards, while greens, though at times vulnerable to seasonal maintenance variations, require subtle touch and reading skills. Throughout the year, the changing southern light emphasizes the evolving contours, providing visual clues that challenge golfers to adjust their approach.

Dancing Rabbit Golf Club holds appeal for a broad spectrum of players. Its routing delivers accessible tee options that welcome higher handicaps, yet it rewards low handicappers with intricate green complexes and risk-reward opportunities. The course embraces walkability, encouraging golfers to experience the sights and sounds of the surrounding natural environment without relying solely on carts.

While recent reports indicate some inconsistency in course conditioning, particularly on greens and bunkers during certain seasons, the fundamental layout remains compelling. The club’s recently refreshed clubhouse complements the golf experience with attentive service and an inviting atmosphere where players can relax post-round. Amenities include well-stocked pro shops and conveniently spaced restroom and hydration stations along the course, supporting comfort and endurance during play.

For golfers planning their visit, mid-week rounds often present quieter conditions, allowing a more contemplative pace. Proper footwear is advised given the natural terrain and occasional uneven lies. Whether confronting the subtle pressures of its tough holes or enjoying the scenic serenity, Dancing Rabbit Golf Club offers a distinct Southern golf experience that encourages thoughtful play amid a quietly impressive setting.

Course Highlights

The course features a series of challenging sand bunkers and natural water hazards that shape strategy on multiple holes. Signature sights include mature pine groves framing the fairways and elevated greens demanding careful approach shots. The layout emphasizes thoughtful shot-making over distance, offering a rewarding test for both intermediate and skilled golfers.

Spoiler alert ...even though the facilities and staff are very nice, the courses are in very poor condition as of May 20, 2025. There are many greens with large sand spots, dead grass, new sod, or large sod cutouts with no sod. Many sand traps had weeds, hard packed and not raked. This was especially true on the Azalea course. Otherwise, if you just want to see a scenic and challenging layout, go for it!

What happened to the greens? Played the Azelia and was a disappointment. Most had large repaired spots, and extremely sandy. Had already paid $79 asked for a refund or rain check for 9 and was denied. Used to be a great course this is sad to see. Fairways and bunkers were ok, just the greens were unputtable.

We played the Azaleas 4.30.25 and the greens were horrible. The price was reasonable at $79 if the greens were decent. I wish they had told us about the greens when we booked the tee time.

I have golfed in all 48 states, and this course is “on par” with the best! The layout is gorgeously created. They have one bathroom station per 9 holes and has an ice /water machine! My only complaint is it didn’t seem top tier maintained in the bunkers (grass) and fairways (dead spots) and the greens were sanded (June). Room for improvement I suppose.
