Gulf Hills Golf Club

Ocean Springs, Mississippi, USACentral Mississippi

Gulf Hills Golf Club presents a welcoming 9-hole course that balances relaxed play with subtle coastal challenges. Located in Ocean Springs, this public-access layout invites golfers to enjoy strategic shotmaking amid mature trees and gentle sea breezes.

Course Overview

Gulf Hills Golf Club in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, offers a charming 9-hole layout that combines approachable play with a touch of historic character. The course meanders through gently rolling terrain, framed by mature trees and natural coastal vegetation, reflecting its location near the Gulf of Mexico. While not expansive in yardage, Gulf Hills invites golfers of all skill levels to work on strategy and execution amid a relaxed, Southern atmosphere.

Designed originally as part of a resort community, this public-access course blends parkland-style fairways with pockets of marshland and subtle elevation changes. The shorter holes allow an emphasis on shot precision rather than power, while several drivable par 4s introduce an element of decision-making that keeps play engaging. Though some greens show signs of wear—a reminder that the course embraces a laid-back vibe rather than meticulous championship conditioning—the overall experience rewards patience and planning.

The setting provides a calm backdrop; gentle sea breezes influence club selection and ball flight, particularly on the holes closer to the water's edge. Although the course’s compact nature makes it less physically demanding, players should prepare for natural obstacles and uneven lies typical of coastal settings. This dynamic makes Gulf Hills a practical option for golfers seeking both a leisurely round and occasional strategic challenge.

Amenities include on-site cart rentals, a practice area, and a clubhouse with dining options adjacent to the course, offering a comfortable place to unwind post-round. The nearby hotel and saltwater pool emphasize the resort heritage, inviting visitors to extend their stay and soak in the region’s hospitality.

For those planning a visit, midweek play typically offers quieter conditions, and early morning tee times can provide the best combination of comfortable temperatures and pace of play. Walking is encouraged on this course, though carts are readily available. The blend of approachable design and natural beauty makes Gulf Hills Golf Club an inviting destination for golfers who appreciate a round that balances ease with occasional testing shots.

Course Highlights

Gulf Hills features a comfortable blend of parkland and coastal influences, including several drivable par 4s that challenge shot selection. The course retains a classic resort ambiance with mature trees lining fairways and breezes that subtly affect ball flight. Renovations are ongoing to preserve the character of the course while improving playability and facilities, particularly around the clubhouse and practice areas.

9 holes course in mostly decent shape. Couple greens were bombed out but most were fine. Short layout with 2 or 3 drivable par 4s. Tried a Bushwhacker for the first time. Not recommended on a hot day.

As if July 13th 2022, some renovations begin to take place. A few rooms are now gutted. That us needed. Looks like surveys are completed. Some property clearing us underway. Some new landscapes around the beautiful Salt water pool. It is also to be noted that Capones Restaurant, now has a morning breakfast pastry and coffee cappuccino and expresso bar, which is adjoining the hotel and is NOT A PART OF THE HOTEL. You can walk out any room and stroll across the parking spaces and sit comfortably in or outside. Fresh pastry and muffins and cakes and delicious stuffed breakfast pastries are available begin at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday thru Sunday. It is a nice compliment to your stay at Gulf Hills resort. Tell chef Joe that Paul Clifton sent you. SHE will be glad to hear it. A great lunch special is offered each day they are open. Guests at the hotel can go to Capones and get golf carts snd play 9 holes on a great golf course. Absolutely a world apart. Like a step back in time. It is coming back from some storm damage last year. The staff are very kind and accommodating. A big Salt water pool. Nice suites. Old world. Old fashioned. It must have been quite a place in the mid 1900's. We will be returning. Thanks. We hope the Rain Realestate company, who are the newest owners, will begin to fix the place up and make the decades long needed improvements.

My best friend and I went one Friday night to try the Ribeye special. It took a little time for our food to come out but our server was more than accommodating and kept us in the loop for the whole meal which was greatly appreciated. We split an order of okra which was crispy and delicious! The steaks were cooked PERFECTLY and they were delicious! We took a slice of chocolate and peanut butter cake home and definitely enjoyed it later. I can’t wait to get back!

Nice course but I recommend them lowering the fees. Shouldn't be more than 30 bucks.

Met up with a nice couple who gave me some good pointers. They say it's not as pristine as some other cour$e$ so keep an eye out for the general area where your ball lands otherwise it's adios little tiny ball. I REALLY enjoyed the course and the crew was great. Very friendly 🙂👍
