Champion Hill Golf Course

Beulah, Michigan, USACentral Michigan

Champion Hill Golf Course provides a manageable yet engaging 18-hole round in Benzie County, Michigan. With gently rolling fairways, tree-lined corridors, and scenic views, it welcomes golfers of all levels looking for an approachable parkland-style challenge.

Course Overview

Champion Hill Golf Course offers a welcoming 18-hole layout situated along the gently rolling terrain of Benzie County, Michigan. This public course provides an accessible yet thoughtfully designed experience that appeals to players across skill levels. With spacious fairways framed by natural elevation changes and tree-lined corridors, Champion Hill balances playability with a subtle test of strategy. Though not a lengthy track, the course embraces a parkland character, where long grass slightly softens the fairways and slower greens encourage a measured pace through each round.

The course setting benefits from impressive vistas that extend over the surrounding landscape, lending moments of quiet appreciation amid play. While the driving range and tees feature taller grasses than many might expect, this adds to the natural feel of the property and rewards shot placement more than simply length. Multiple teeing options encourage discretion in club selection, though players seeking brisk, tightly mown conditions may find the slower green speeds and softer turf a departure from typical championship preparations.

Champion Hill’s layout features several holes with sweeping turns and moderate elevation shifts, requiring thoughtful course management and accuracy. These elements make it approachable for higher handicappers while presenting enough nuance to engage more experienced golfers. The overall pace remains comfortable, aided by friendly on-site staff who create an inclusive atmosphere for newcomers and seasoned players alike.

Amenities include a well-maintained clubhouse that supports relaxed socializing after the round, and golf carts are readily available for those preferring assistance on the course, though walking is encouraged to fully appreciate the setting and elevation changes. The local climate and course conditions combine to offer enjoyable play through much of the year, particularly during Michigan’s late spring through early fall.

Champion Hill is an inviting choice for golfers traveling through the region or residents seeking a stance between challenge and enjoyment without sacrificing charm or natural beauty. Its approachable design paired with scenic views ensures it remains a favorite stop in Central Michigan’s golf scene.

Course Highlights

Champion Hill features a natural parkland layout with rolling hills and mature trees providing strategic framing and protection around fairways. Several holes incorporate elevation shifts that reward thoughtful club selection and approach shots, while the course’s slower green speeds and softer fairways offer a distinct play character that favors precision over power. Its scenic views over Benzie County add a quiet backdrop seldom found on similarly accessible courses in the region.

A group of 12 of us played here and Pinecroft in Aug of 2024, couldn't beat the price for 36 holes of golf. The courses set up differently from each other which is nice to see when playing both in the same day. I lean towards Champion Hill since I shot 75, but enjoyed them both. I look forward to playing them again in the future.

Champion Hill is the best course in Benzie County bar none! My wife and I came later in the evening on a Sumday and asked if we could play a quick 9 holes and the friendliest woman you'll ever meet told us no problem! So nice and really felt welcomed. And the course is spectacular and was in fantastic condition for late September. Highly recommend!

I'm not an experienced golfer, so most courses to me are very challenging. But this place is pretty cool. I actually parred three holes! Great views and nice carts. I won't mind going back.

The lady at the counter was nice at check in and at the turn. The course has some of the best views in the state so overall it is a fun track to play. I do want to be honest with the review so all levels of golfers know what they should expect. Overall the course is green everywhere it should be. The tee boxes, fairways and driving range grass are left very long for typical course standards. The greens roll extremely slow but again, they are in nice shape. If you shoot 80 and above and don’t mind the long grass on the fairways/tees and driving range, this course is awesome. If you go low and typically play off of tight lies and quick greens, they aren’t set up that way. This course would benefit from a mixed version of blue and white tees on the card because some holes play a lot shorter then what the card has listed due to sharp turns and elevation. Overall it was a great experience and we enjoyed it.

Was considering a 9 holes at Arcadia Bluffs when I passed through the area coming from the UP to SE Michigan. My partner isn't an experienced golfer, so I scheduled a round here instead. We had a great time and we both bought merchandise at the end. This course was recommended to me through Grok by xAI. Good job, Grok!

Nice course. Big fairways and not terribly hard greens. Only thing I would like to see is a hole map at each hole.
