Course Overview

Berkshire Hills Country Club offers an 18-hole golf experience set in the rolling hills of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. This private club course presents a classic layout that balances challenge and enjoyment, appealing primarily to mid- and low-handicap players who appreciate well-maintained fairways and strategic green complexes. The course terrain blends gentle elevation changes with mature tree lines, creating a thoughtful parkland-style setting that demands precision without overwhelming the golfer.

From the first tee to the eighteenth green, the routing encourages a steady rhythm, punctuated by holes that invite risk-reward decisions through carefully positioned bunkers and undulating greens. Members and guests face varying shot shapes as the course reveals subtle contouring beneath its well-kept surfaces, testing both distance control and approach accuracy. The landscape’s natural contours work with the course, guiding balls toward landing areas while occasionally confronting players with uneven lies that reward creativity.

Setting aside its competitive design, Berkshire Hills extends an inviting clubhouse with panoramic views of the Berkshires, where players can relax and refuel after a round. Berkshire Hills supports walkability, offering a pleasant pace and manageable terrain for those who prefer to carry their clubs or take a stroll between holes. Golf carts are available but less common, reinforcing a connection to the land and the sound of each strike. Seasonal conditions between spring and fall yield excellent playing surfaces, with course maintenance focusing on fast, true greens and smooth fairways.

This course suits seasoned players seeking a reliable test and a private environment removed from louder resort vibes. Its understated elegance and solid design make it a notable destination for golfers in Central Massachusetts looking to refine their skills while enjoying a quiet, thoughtfully maintained course.

Love eating here. The food is good and reasonable. The best view around. I had a birthday party for a friend there and Beth took care of everything for me. She got the meals out quickly and was attentive to everything we needed. Everyone there was happy with their meals. Can’t thank Beth enough. She was very easy to work with.

Berkshire Hills was a nightmare to work with. It was a week before the wedding and I was ready to change venues if I had literally any other option. The event manager, Lynn, was so unbelievably disorganized that it made for a very frustrating several months of planning. She was constantly asking me questions that I had already answered multiple times through email. This made me doubt her management skills and I became very nervous about the success of my wedding reception. She gave me false information so many times that I can’t even count. She told me the wrong information related to food options and catering several times. She told me the wrong information regarding decorating which caused me to keep changing plans last minute. For months, she told me that we could decorate the day before and that there was nothing planned. Well, hours before I was going to go decorate she told me that I couldn't decorate until that night due to a weekly event that she somehow overlooked. And when we got there, we still couldn't decorate. She told me certain things would be ready at a specific time and then they were not and I became unable to trust a single word she said. I even had reports from guests that Lynn was rude to them during the reception. I had to ask her questions several times before she would finally give me an answer and as we got closer and closer the the day of the wedding she was very hard to reach and took an unreasonable amount of time to return my emails. Lynn bailed on meeting with me and my husband 2 days before the wedding where we were to pay our food bill. The day before our meeting she said she might not be able to make it but if she can't then she will inform 2 other members of management so that we could be taken care of. She never showed up and also didn’t tell anyone about it. She was unreachable by myself or by the staff at the club and there was no one there who could help us. This was 2 days before our wedding! It was then 24 hours before we would hear from Lynn again despite emails and phone calls and she never even acknowledged missing the meeting. Lynn has no business being an event manager! Another major issue we had is that Berkshire Hills advertises that they can accommodate events of up to 300 but they couldn’t even remotely accommodate my wedding of 189. First of all, the reception hall can only hold 240 guests if each table is uncomfortably packed to the max. They didn’t have the space and they didn’t have the staff. An event of my size required a significant increase in servers and at least one more bartender in order for things to go smoothly. We had plated meals and it was over two hours from the first plate being served to the last plate being served. We had to change the order of events of the reception in order to accommodate the slow service. Myself and a few guests had to ask the kitchen to serve several tables that had been skipped entirely. They were slow to serve and far too quick to start picking up. Many guests didn’t get cake because it was either never served to their table or it was served while they were dancing and picked up before they even made it back to their tables to eat it. I had to ask the kitchen myself several times to bring out more cake for guests who had missed it. I was also informed by several guests that the servers told them they had run out of specific food choices. We ordered a certain number of each meal based on what our guests had indicated on their RSVP and we had ordered a few extras of each. We paid for that number of meals, however, we had people not receive what they want because the kitchen had not ordered the correct number of each meals that we paid them specifically to order. On a positive note, the grounds are beautiful, the view is amazing, and the food tasted incredible. Overall, communication was atrocious, the event manager was incompetent, and Berkshire Hills simply cannot accommodate the large events that it claims to. I would not recommend Berkshire Hills to anyone especially events of over 100 guests.

Expensive experience for a function. Ok overall. Dinner was an hour late, but it is what it is. They never checked the batteries in their microphone or thought to have extra even though there was a speaker at the function. Was told by the bartender that they didn't even have a microphone and didn't know where I got it. Then, I'm assuming it was the manager, told me that he couldn't help me because he couldn't find the key to his office and that who was speaking was doing "just fine" without a microphone...I guess forget that they were spending thousands of dollars for a function to be held there. It wasn't until I suggested that they take batteries out of the television remote that the problem was resolved. And it wasn't the fact that they weren't prepared it was the attitude that we were given. Most of the guests were gone before dessert was even served.
