Berea Golf Club

Berea, Kentucky, USACentral Kentucky

Berea Golf Club is a welcoming 9-hole public course located just off I-75 in Berea, Kentucky. Known for its approachable layout and mountain-adjacent scenery, it offers golfers an accessible, quick round with small greens and varied hole design.

Course Overview

Berea Golf Club offers a modest, approachable layout for golfers seeking a casual yet engaging 9-hole experience in Berea, Kentucky. Situated just minutes off I-75, this public course serves as a convenient stop for both locals and travelers looking to squeeze in a quick round amid mountain views. The course’s intimate design focuses on a compact footprint, weaving through gentle elevation changes reflective of the surrounding foothills. While it may not boast the length or grandeur of championship layouts, Berea Golf Club presents an accessible introduction to the game, especially for beginners and mid-handicappers who appreciate a straightforward round away from crowded tee sheets.

The course’s fairways run through a residential area, offering glimpses of nearby homes and rolling terrain that give the round a neighborhood feel rather than a resort-style escape. Greens are small and positioned with tournament pins that offer a testing element for approach shots and putting, though recent player feedback highlights inconsistent surface conditions that may challenge the most patient of putters. The overall routing encourages shot-making variety, with several holes requiring a thoughtful blend of distance control and placement.

For visitors planning their round, the course’s walkable layout suits almost any level of fitness, though those intending to walk will want to wear supportive footwear given the uneven greens and some subtle uphill segments. While the course lacks expansive practice facilities or high-end amenities typical at larger clubs, its straightforward setting and reasonable pace of play make it a practical choice for a relaxed outing.

Berea Golf Club’s value proposition is its accessibility and quick pace rather than architectural distinction. It connects players to a local community atmosphere framed by natural Kentucky mountain scenery. Prospective visitors should anticipate a no-frills experience focused on fundamental golf enjoyment rather than polished resort luxuries. Those seeking a brief, affordable round amid familiar countryside will find Berea a suitable stop, but improvements in course conditioning and service would greatly enhance its appeal in the region.

Course Highlights

A compact 9-hole layout with small, pinned greens and natural mountain vista backdrops. The course demands precision over power with approach shots to well-guarded greens that challenge accuracy. Its location within a residential area offers a unique, community-driven golf setting uncommon in the region.

Great little 9 hole track, small greens and they sure tuck tournament pins, in great shape this July, tucked back in a little residential neighborhood so follow the signs, nice views of surrounding mountains.... Only a few minutes off i75 so if close swing by and play it!!

The course is awful DO NOT PLAY HERE the greens are like playing in my backyard that’s how uneven they are plus the lady at the front desk was so rude to us, even though it was our first time at the course.

I recently visited Berea Golf Course and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this course is in need of significant improvement in the customer service department. Firstly, the staff at the front desk was exceptionally rude. Their dismissive attitude and lack of professionalism set a negative tone for the entire visit. I felt unwelcome, which is never a good start for a day on the links. The condition of the course did nothing to improve my mood. The greens were in particularly rough shape—bumpy, uneven, and poorly maintained. It was challenging to get a decent roll on the ball, and it was clear that regular upkeep is not a priority here. The fairways were similarly disappointing, with patches of bare spots and inconsistent grass coverage that made for a frustrating round. Overall, Berea Golf Course fell short on multiple fronts. Between the unhelpful staff and the subpar condition of the course, I left feeling that my time and money could have been better spent elsewhere. I hope that the management takes these issues seriously and makes the necessary improvements to enhance the experience for future visitors. Until then, I can't recommend this course based on my recent experience.

PLEASE DON'T EVER PLAY THIS COURSE the staff is not very friendly got up in my face not sure what kind of people the owners are hiring but had a terrible experience! Did consider doing membership for me and my wife! This all happen on the 9th hole on the green! So there is no way I would waste my money with that kind of staff. YOU CAN GET A MEMBERSHIP AT BATTLEFIELD for alot less and staff is great!! The whole thing was because my daughter wanted to ride with us and she was not playing at all. The group behind us was playing 6 never said anything to them or the group he was playing with they had 5 that he was playing with but claiming to be a ranger. BEREA has never had a ranger in 15 years that I been playing!!
