Eagle Bend Golf Course
Eagle Bend Golf Course in Lawrence, Kansas, presents a peaceful 18-hole layout that blends open prairie landscapes with smooth greens and strategic bunkering. Suitable for players of various skill levels, its quiet setting and thoughtful design encourage both relaxed rounds and competitive play.
Course Overview
Eagle Bend Golf Course offers a serene and thoughtfully maintained 18-hole layout that blends natural prairie landscapes with gentle elevation changes. Located in Lawrence, Kansas, this public course extends just over 6,850 yards and plays to a par of 72. The course’s setting is notably open, framed by native grasses and woodlands that shape a quiet, contemplative atmosphere far from urban distractions. Its wide fairways and large, mostly flat greens make it approachable to golfers of various skill levels, yet there is enough subtle contour and bunkering to challenge more experienced players.
The routing unfolds across modest hills and gentle valleys, encouraging a rhythmic walk that rewards focus and strategic shot-making. Many holes invite a tested tee shot for positioning, while the approach shots reward precision in both distance and trajectory. Though the course drains well after rain and remains playable in various conditions, some tee boxes show signs of wear, a detail worth noting for players expecting pristine conditions. The thick rough surrounding the fairways poses a stern penalty for errant drives, adding to the importance of course management here.
Eagle Bend’s quiet environment allows nature’s sounds to fill the round—from rustling grasses to songbirds—offering a rare and peaceful backdrop that enhances concentration and enjoyment. Players appreciate the well-kept greens, which roll true and provide reliable putting surfaces. The course layout balances playability with opportunities for shot creativity, making it suitable for weekend golfers looking to improve and low handicap players seeking a test.
Amenities include a modest clubhouse with practice facilities nearby, supporting both casual rounds and serious practice sessions. Walking the course is comfortable on well-maintained paths and terrain, although sturdy shoes are recommended for wet weather due to natural prairie grasses and occasional uneven footing.
Whether planning a weekday round or weekend challenge, Eagle Bend stands as a notable Kansas course that delivers quiet beauty and thoughtful design with practical playability for a broad audience.

Beautiful front 9, can't wait to play the back 9 next time

Very nice course. There has been a lot of rain, so everything is green. Rough is thick. Greens held pretty well and were quick and true. With nothing around the course it is very pretty and quiet. You get to hear lots of nature.
Winston Lewis
Very well kept track with cordial staff and nice layout. A couple of tee boxes are a tad chewed up, but not obnoxiously so. Nice layout and drains surprisingly well.

The course looked pretty good. The rough needssome work on quite a few holes, but tee boxes and greens were looking and rolling well. I really enjoy this course but it's a little pricey in my opinion.

Golf course is always great. Fun layout, but for some reason they allowed a 6-some to play on a Sunday and they were 3 to 4 holes behind all day. Brutal.
