Tamarack Resort Golf Course

McCall, Idaho, USACentral Idaho Mountains

Tamarack Resort Golf Course presents a mountain golf experience shaped by elevation changes, well-maintained fairways, and natural scenery. This public 18-hole layout challenges players to navigate a course that balances approachability with strategic shot-making amid stunning Idaho highland views.

Course Overview

Tamarack Resort Golf Course offers a distinctive 18-hole mountain layout set within the striking landscape of Tamarack, Idaho. This public resort course invites players to experience a varied challenge that embraces the region’s natural contours and elevation shifts. While the course is still evolving, it showcases fairways framed by native vegetation and punctuated by finely maintained bunkers filled with bright white sand. The elevation changes create memorable tee shots and approaches, demanding focus and precision from golfers of all levels.

The course’s setting commands attention with expansive views of forested hills and distant mountain ridges, which serve not only as scenic backdrops but as subtle tests of wind and club selection. The greens were reported to roll true and fast in recent play, requiring careful pace control and lines once on the putting surface. Though some areas are still maturing, especially closer to the time of its phased reopening, Tamarack Resort Golf Course aims to balance playability with a premium mountain experience.

Designed to accommodate resort golfers while appealing to more serious players, the course strikes a middle ground where strategy and shot-making come alive amidst a natural environment. Walkers will find ample room on well-maintained paths, but golf carts are available to ease travel across the undulating terrain and lengthier holes. Those planning a visit should be prepared for modest walking challenges and variable weather typical of Idaho’s highlands.

The club’s amenities, while currently limited during phased operations, include a welcoming golf shop staffed to assist visitors with equipment and local knowledge. The course’s thoughtful combination of natural beauty, evolving conditions, and demanding holes makes it a worthwhile stop for golfers pursuing mountain golf away from more crowded destinations.

Players should note that food and beverage service is minimal at present, with a single bar cart on the course and limited clubhouse offerings under development. Keeping this in mind will enhance the overall experience alongside the well-cared-for playing surfaces and inspiring setting. Tamarack Resort remains an ambitious project, with an 18-hole championship layout that reflects the rugged charm and challenge of Idaho’s mountain golf landscape.

Course Highlights

The course features significant elevation changes that enhance both its challenge and visual appeal, with fairways bordered by native Idaho forest and well-maintained bunkers presenting strategic hazards. The newly revitalized greens roll smoothly, demanding precision over putts. A standout element is the course’s integration within the mountainous backdrop, offering memorable vistas that influence club selection and shot shape throughout the round.

It was one of the top 10 I've played. Challenging dog legs mixed with the requirements to pick your landing spots. The greens were perfect. The views were even better. A 10

The course has some well designed cool holes, but it is certainly not worth the money at this point. They should still be giving a discounted rate as the course is still under construction. The paths have mud, dirt, and rocks on all sides leading well into the fairways, huge dead patches, shabby grass areas, and not well-groomed bunkers. The course could be nice one day, but it's not there yet. For the price save your money and go play one of the other great courses up that way. What really sets this course apart and into the negative are the amenities...NO drinks, water, food, in the club house. Nothing. There is one bar cart roaming the course which we saw once in 18 holes. No ice in the coolers, no signage on where to go or how to even get to the clubhouse (that is through a parking garage by the way), it was just not a great experience. The staff was not helpful and somewhat rude, didn't seem to care about much, and provided little to no information, even when asked direct questions. I've played many resort courses, and this is just not a resort type of experience. I have been to the shabbiest of Muni's that have better amenities than Osprey Meadows. Give this place a few years and maybe it will be better, but for now, not worth it.

I recently had the pleasure of playing 9 holes on Tamarack's Osprey, their newly reopened golf course, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived Dustin, Scott, Alex, and Jordan were incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable round of golf. The course itself was a treat for the senses. While there were a few lengthy cart rides between a couple of holes, the stunning views of the lake and mountains more than made up for it. The natural beauty of the surroundings added to the overall charm of the course and provided a peaceful day of golf. The greens and fairways were in impeccable condition. The maintenance team at Tamarack has clearly put a lot of effort into getting this course in top shape. The greens rolled true, and the fairways were lush and inviting, making for a pleasurable and challenging game of golf. In conclusion, Tamarack's Osprey golf course is a must-visit for any golfer. The combination of a friendly and attentive staff, breathtaking views, and well-maintained fairways and greens make it a top-notch golfing destination. I look forward to returning for a full 18-hole round when they open the remaining 9 holes in July '24.

Gorgeous course with a great layout! Greens were all you could ask for, fast and true. Fairways are lush, rough is long and places a premium on well placed tee shots and approaches. Bunkers had a generous amount of beautiful white sand. Native area frames the course nicely and the elevation changes create some stunning views and tee shots. 19th “gamblers hole” was a really cool addition, a down hill par 3 guarded by a pond in front. Dustin and the staff in the golf shop were very friendly and welcoming. If you are in the McCall area you have to check this course out!

The course is amazing but the service was not even close. You pay the prices to play there and they don't tell you there is no drink cart. And when you call and ask they say it's not there fault the other people need to hire more. No communication just go.play and pay me 180.00 for your golf. Oh and when you are done go to the bar for a drink but no food. It was an amazing course but need some better training or whatever they call it there.
