Gulf Shores Golf Club

Gulf Shores, Alabama, USACentral Gulf Coast

Gulf Shores Golf Club offers an inviting 18-hole parkland course along Alabama’s Gulf Coast. Its gently rolling fairways and brisk greens challenge players while remaining accessible, set within a landscape that blends natural beauty with thoughtful course design and ongoing amenities improvements.

Course Overview

Gulf Shores Golf Club offers a refreshing 18-hole experience set against the softly rolling terrain of Alabama’s Gulf Coast. This semi-private layout blends approachable playability with a moderate challenge, making it a fitting destination for golfers of various skill levels seeking a well-maintained but unpretentious venue. From the first tee, the course introduces a landscape marked by lush fairways punctuated with native grasses and water features that come into play on several holes, requiring thoughtful shot placement and strategic thinking.

The design embraces a traditional parkland style, where gently contoured greens and fairways wind through open spaces framed by clusters of hardwoods and pines. The greens, known for their brisk pace and firmness, reward a carefully judged approach and touch, often demanding creativity in short game execution. Bunkers are placed to influence decision-making, particularly around the landing zones and close to the greens, serving as visual prompts to test accuracy without overwhelming the golfer.

Despite recent heavy rainfall in the region, the course maintains consistently well-kept conditions, with fairways presenting a solid playing surface and greens rolling true. Ongoing improvements under new ownership have focused on course edges and bunker upkeep, adding to the overall presentation and walkability. A new halfway house enhances the mid-round comfort, encouraging players to reset and savor the surrounding air and scenery.

Gulf Shores Golf Club welcomes players seeking a solid round in an accessible setting that balances challenge with enjoyment. The gently undulating terrain keeps the walk engaging but manageable, with recommended footwear to handle occasional dampness and soft turf. Friendly staff and an accommodating clubhouse atmosphere complement the experience, providing a glimpse of Southern hospitality alongside the game.

For golfers aiming to enjoy a straightforward, yet positively engaging course that tests shot-making and course management without unnecessary complexity, Gulf Shores Golf Club stands as a dependable choice along Alabama’s coast.

Played 18 today with my buddy and another group of two from Arkansas. Turned out to be a fantastic grouping. Course was in great shape considering all the rain earlier in the week. Most difficult shot was the 2nd shot on each hole for sure. Deceptively challenging course. Staff was amazing. Will definitely go back!!

Played 18 there yesterday and had a blast. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were well taken care of and the groundskeepers were constantly in motion to ensure they remain so. Will definitely be back!

Course is in great shape. Nice layout. Talk to Jim in the pro shop. He’s the man. Highly recommend. I’ll play there again next time I’m in Gulf Shores.

Played out there the other day, the pro in the pro shop was very nice to me. It was a little pricy for twilight rate but the golf pro worked with me since I told him I was a college golfer. Course was a complete 180 from last time I came last year, the greens are good, they don’t have any more of the crab grass on them like they used to, they got new mats on the range too, they are nice, they have new signs on all the holes and driving range, and new water dispensers on the course. The place is a lot better since they got the new owner. Again it’s a little pricey but I’m sure it’s just because it’s the middle of summer which I understand. Would recommend this place to go play at.

The golf course is in wonderful shape. The bunkers could use some attention but with the amount of rain lately it’s understandable. The greens were tough but they rolled true. The fairways were perfect. The staff were very friendly. Overall a great 18 hole experience. Definitely will play again.

Terrific course. We just golfed the front nine, but we enjoyed the layout of the course a lot. We actually enjoyed it more than Kiva Dunes. The greens were quite fast but they were consistent. I'd definitely golf here again.
