Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto, Florida, offers an accessible 18-hole public layout that balances enjoyable playability with strategic challenges. With a classic Florida golfing environment and thoughtful routing, it engages golfers across skill levels while providing practical amenities like a driving range and clubhouse facilities undergoing improvement.

Course Overview

Buffalo Creek Golf Course, located in Palmetto, Florida, offers an 18-hole layout that presents a straightforward yet engaging challenge for golfers of varying skill levels. This public course is characterized by its traditional Florida golf environment, blending flat terrain with generous fairways lined by native vegetation and water hazards that quietly influence shot selection. While the course may not boast dramatic elevation changes, its routing encourages strategic play that rewards accuracy and course management.

The grounds at Buffalo Creek display a solid playing surface where fairways are typically well-maintained, though occasional inconsistencies in green conditions have been noted. These greens vary in size and slope, requiring careful reading and precision putts to avoid costly mistakes. Water comes into play on several holes, adding both strategic interest and visual variety as players navigate through the rounds.

The course experience is complemented by a recently refreshed driving range that serves well for warming up or fine-tuning your swing before heading to the first tee. The clubhouse, currently undergoing updates, features a pro shop and bar area providing practical amenities to enhance your visit. Staff members are generally helpful and approachable, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere despite some reports of pace-of-play concerns during busier weekend periods.

Buffalo Creek’s layout strikes a balance between being approachable enough for mid- and high-handicap players while retaining enough challenge to engage lower handicappers looking to sharpen their short game. The course encourages a measured pace of play but can occasionally feel stretched during peak times when tee times are tightly scheduled.

For golfers planning a visit, sturdy walking shoes are advisable, as Florida’s warm climate and stretches between holes call for comfort and hydration. Early morning tee times offer the most enjoyable conditions before afternoon heat intensifies. While a golf cart is recommended for convenience, walking remains an option for those seeking a more connected experience with the course’s natural elements.

Buffalo Creek Golf Course stands as a practical choice for local players and visitors alike seeking a solid Florida public golf experience without excessive frills but with enough subtle challenges to maintain interest through 18 holes.

First time playing this course was a few weeks ago. Course was in decent shape and challenging enough for most any golfer. Pace of play was good for a fairly busy weekend. Staff was friendly and helpful. Clubhouse/pro shop/bar seemed to be in midst of construction or refurbishment.

Have played a few times here and the course is in decent shape with good greens, but is a bit on the pricey side. The staff are extremely kind, but they do a terrible job at tee time management. I've had to stand around and wait for a golf cart to come in. It's also taken me 4 hours to play the front 9 so we didn't even bother with the back. This course would definitely be more enjoyable if they didn't over book and pace of play was maintained.

The older person who at the return cart on Sunday is very bad and rude . He will yell at you if you have some trash left inside the cart when return.we like this golf course , come here every weekend but this person is trying to stop us for coming anymore. This is not the first time, we try to ignore and enjoy our game. There are a lot of bad reviews about the staff here but we didn’t believe it until it happens to us. They should be more welcome and nice to customer!

The group infront of us was late to their tee time clogging up traffic, then played 7-12 strokes per hole (from the yellows) causing a massive pileup of golfers. Eventually on hole 15 the MARSHALL drove up to us and asked if he could get in a hole ahead of us and after we pointed to the group directly ahead of us he said “dang, thought I’d get lucky” and instead of driving up to them to have them keep pace, he drove back to the clubhouse presumably. We finished after 5 hours and 15 minutes. 0 etiquette, 0 enforcement, hot dog staff was nice though.

Great driving range, welcoming employees, overall terrible golf course. The tee boxes were the nicest area on each hole. Putting was not an option on 3/4 of the greens. Please see photos attached! Holes were cut with a butter knife! 18 holes took 5hrs! Putting was a joke season green fees 75$ Highly overpriced for what is offered.

Friendly staff and good quality course. Layout is good and turf conditions were very acceptable. And you might even get to see the "Big Guy" alligator.
