Course Overview
Ocala Golf Club offers an accessible yet engaging golfing experience that balances the charm of a classic city course with thoughtful course conditioning and design. This public 18-hole layout sprawls through the urban perimeter of Ocala, Florida, where strategic fairways weave between natural pockets of green and mature trees, creating a setting that feels both relaxed and purposeful. The course features a distinctive blend of hole lengths, including five par 5s and five par 3s, inviting a varied approach to scoring and shot selection that keeps players attentive from start to finish.
Fairways here demand precision without overwhelming with length, making the course approachable for golfers across skill levels. A few holes run close to adjacent streets, introducing an added element of challenge that tests control and shot judgment, especially when errant drives risk rolling beyond the course boundaries. The greens have seen significant improvement, now rolling soft and smooth at a pace that rewards thoughtful putting yet remains receptive to well-struck shots.
Support facilities include a well-maintained driving range, featuring artificial turf mats that provide consistent lies for iron practice, alongside individual chipping and putting areas that allow golfers to warm up or sharpen short game skills. Gas carts are available and commonly used, although walking is an option for those wanting a low-impact round and wishing to engage more closely with the environment.
The course maintains a friendly atmosphere, supported by attentive staff who contribute to seamless play and hospitality. While the clubhouse provides convenient amenities, the genuine draw lies in the accessible layout and steady upkeep that make Ocala Golf Club a practical choice for locals and visitors seeking a rewarding round without extensive formality or expense.
Players considering their visit are advised to account for daylight hours, especially in the evening, as the facility closes around 6:30 PM and lighting is minimal on the course. Overall, Ocala Golf Club stands out as a community-centered venue where a balanced test of golf meets steady value in Central Florida’s growing golf scene.
Course Highlights

I actually liked the facility...nice enough driving range if you dont mind artificial turf....which I like at driving ranges. Nice turf to hit your irons on. Also had a nicely maintained chipping and seperate putting greens. My kids bought me a range membership and thought has not went smooth, and is the reason for the 3 stars. After asking on the phone what time they close, and in person to verify it was 6:30, there was nobody there 2 of the 3 times i went. Granted i dont leave work till 5 and get there around or a little after 6....which is why I asked. One day was 6:09 and the other 6:14, lights off and door locked. I have keep going, so ill update if they get a little more reliable. I do not want to call everyday to check. If they said that when the membership was offered, I would of told them to kick rocks.

Affordable course, nice layout, easy to play. An errant drive on a couple holes will put your ball out in the street. Clubhouse is good, staff is nice and they don't follow you around the course like some do. Decent driving range with a net about 250 yards deep. Gas carts. If you want a fun time in the middle of Ocala proper, then be sure to tee off here.

This is an update to my review of 2 years ago. The Ocala Golf Course is one of my favorite courses in the Silver Springs area. The course is well taken care of and a joy to play. The course is well maintained and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I like the uniquely designed 5 par 5s and 5 par 3s. It is worth the effort to come and play golf here. I definitely recommend it for all skill levels.

I have been playing this course since 1997. I was told that they have a new guy as superintendent his name is Sean. So i decided to play today and I am blown away as how outstanding this course is. Over the past few years the fairways were sparce at times, lots of wet and worn areas and the greens were always plagued with problems. These greens are spectacular. All the problems they ever had are gone. It is very rare to find greens that play at this speed that still receive a ball. Usally they are dry and crunchy. These greens play soft and lightning fast. If you have any doubt as to how good this course has improved come and see for yourself. Country club quality at a city course price.
