Ocala, Florida, USACentral Florida

Lake Diamond Golf & Country Club in Ocala provides an 18-hole parkland layout defined by water hazards and mature trees. Its approachable yet strategic design suits a broad range of golfers seeking a comfortable round amid Florida’s unique landscape.

Course Overview

Lake Diamond Golf & Country Club offers an 18-hole challenge framed by Florida’s well-defined landscape, creating a layout that balances playability with compelling strategic options. Located in Ocala, this semi-private course holds a unique position within Central Florida’s diverse golf environment. The course unfolds with a classic parkland style where sculpted fairways weave through mature trees and artful water hazards that both entice and test golfers of varied skill levels.

The overall terrain invites players to engage thoughtfully—every tee shot can shift the stance for the next, demanding precision and course management more than sheer power. Water features are common throughout, ranging from serene lakes to narrow creeks that come into play on key holes, requiring careful club selection and shot shaping. The greens are generally well-maintained, presenting a medium pace with subtle breaks that reward an attentive putter.

For golfers seeking a memorable round without excessive difficulty, Lake Diamond provides an approachable setup for mid to high handicappers, while still rewarding lower handicaps who navigate its strategic nuances. The design emphasizes balance, with a layout that encourages a confident driving strategy while providing ample risk-reward opportunities.

Amenities include a welcoming clubhouse with basic facilities, a pro shop, and practice areas suitable for warm-ups and short-game sharpening. Given the Florida climate, generous tree cover offers crucial shade, enhancing comfort on warm days. Many players appreciate the opportunity to walk the course, enjoying the softly rolling terrain that adds gentle elevation changes without fatigue.

Visitors should consider early tee times to avoid afternoon heat and afternoon thunderstorms typical to the region. Proper hydration and sun protection are advisable when playing.

Lake Diamond’s mixture of water, tree-lined corridors, and open fairways gives it an inviting character. While not aiming to impress with high-profile architectural pedigree, it meets practical expectations of a pleasant, well-kept golf setting where focus sharpens and the day unfolds hole by hole.

This course is a fitting choice for golfers looking to experience Central Florida’s golf under fair conditions, with scenery that keeps the round engaging throughout.

Course Highlights

Looking for a golf course with new homes and Lake Diamond came up on the radar Looked like a nice established course but the homes that were being built were small and the area was congested and the salespeople were missing 😕 Not impressed!

I have loved this course for years even before the revamp, love the layout, greens are almost always looking good, and it's just a great place to get a round in

Poor guy in the morning was trying to navigate power and internet issues. The guy was taking names and writing green fees down so you can come back later and pay your round when the technology returns. There was a personnel change before we got done golfing. This idiot was writing down people's names, credit card numbers, AND three digit codes! He left it on the counter in front of me for several minutes when he disappeared in the back. I could have written down everyone's credit card information and stolen ALL your identities (WHICH I DID NOT). When I informed him what an awful idea that was to leave everyone's information laying out, I got a very curt and sharp response that I will spare you. He moved the paper five feet away from me and then disappeared again for several minutes. This is how your identity gets stolen folks and I personally will not be back.

Fairways and Greens on front 9 much better than 6 months ago. Squirrels are still curious and comical. They will climb in your cart looking for snacks.
