Baseline Golf Course

Ocala, Florida, USACentral Florida

Baseline Golf Course in Ocala, Florida, is an executive-style 18-hole layout combining six par-4s and twelve par-3s, surrounded by lush landscapes and highlighted by an island green on the unique 13th hole. This course offers a quick yet engaging round suitable for players seeking a technical short-game challenge within vibrant natural surroundings.

Course Overview

Baseline Golf Course presents a refreshing alternative for golfers seeking a compact yet thoughtfully designed layout in the heart of Ocala, Florida. This executive-style 18-hole course blends six par-4s with a complement of par-3 holes, creating a brisk round that balances challenge with accessibility. The course’s east-central Florida setting provides lush greenery and vibrant floral accents, accented by clusters of mature trees that offer ample shade and a welcome respite from the Florida sun.

With fairways that are generally well-maintained and often framed by landscaped beds and a subtle waterfall feature, Baseline encourages players of all levels to find rhythm and confidence. Its shorter length lends itself well to those looking to sharpen their short game or enjoy a quicker round without sacrificing variety. Some greens, while occasionally affected by Florida’s climate, hold firm and reward precise approaches, particularly on the par-4s where a well-placed tee shot can set up scoring opportunities.

One of the unique elements Baseline offers is its "lucky 13" extra hole — accessible by a small bridge and set on an island green. This hole invites risk and flair with the water looming, adding a theatrical flourish to the round and an enjoyable challenge for players eager to test nerve and finesse.

The staff in the clubhouse provides a welcoming atmosphere, with courteous service that enhances the overall experience. It’s important to note that Baseline operates without traditional tee times, which can lead to busy periods and delayed starts—particularly on weekends. Golfers planning a visit should consider weekday mornings for a less congested pace and prepare for a walking round, as the course encourages walking to fully appreciate its intimate design and peaceful surroundings.

In summary, Baseline Golf Course offers a verdant, approachable venue with a unique hole and a layout conducive to both practice and competition. While it thrives as a community hub, prospective players should plan accordingly to avoid bottlenecks and maximize enjoyment on this well-manicured Florida course.

Course Highlights

Baseline’s compact course design features six par-4 holes surrounded by a majority of par-3s, allowing an intense focus on short approach shots and putting. The signature 'lucky 13' island green hole presents a distinctive test amid the otherwise straightforward layout. The lush, well-groomed fairways and vibrant flora alongside mature shade trees add both beauty and strategic complexity. The waterfall near the clubhouse provides a calming setting for pre- and post-round gatherings.

Beautiful golf course, green ruffs and fairways, lush plant life, flowers everywhere, plenty of shade under tree lined and surrounded holes. 6 par 4’s and the rest par 3’s. Recommend if you’re looking for an executive style course.

Very friendly staff inside the pro shop, course looks to be in very nice shape, but we rolled up to the first tee to see a group of about 10 carts and a few walkers just waiting to go off. The starter was not friendly at all and I would even go as far to say he was a little rude. I’m not sure if the stress from having 10 carts going waiting to go off or what, but it was almost enough to make me turn around and ask for a refund. Not very pleasing. I think this course could benefit from implementing tee times to avoid this very issue.

Had a good experience with our 1st time playing here. Beautifully landscaped with a waterfall flowers everywhere. Most fairways pretty good a couple of greens were baked out.

Beautiful short golf course. Has par 4's, so you can let the big dog eat... at least a little bit. Great Fairways and greens. The staff in the club house was wonderful and courteous. I played a couple other courses around, none as green or well manicured. Bonus lucky 13 hole. Extra hole to play that's on a island 🏝 Also saw this guy!

I was really looking forward to playing at this course and while the course itself was beautiful and the clubhouse staff was friendly and welcoming, the experience was completely ruined by the starter. From the moment we arrived, he was nothing but rude and aggressive, acting like we were an inconvenience just for showing up. On top of that, the course doesn’t operate with tee times, which is an absolute joke. We ended up stuck behind a line of 10 carts, waiting forever to even tee off. It’s pretty hard to enjoy a round when the starter is barking at you and the course is backed up like a traffic jam. It’s a shame because the course is in great shape and the rest of the staff was awesome, but that guy seriously needs an attitude check. Until they figure out how to run things more smoothly — and maybe hire someone with basic people skills — I won’t be coming back.
