Pelican Bay Golf Courses - North

Daytona Beach, Florida, USACentral Florida

Pelican Bay Golf Courses - North presents an approachable 18-hole public course in Daytona Beach where water hazards shape strategy without overwhelming play. Its classic Florida flatland layout offers a balanced test for golfers seeking both challenge and pace of play.

Course Overview

Pelican Bay Golf Courses - North offers an accessible and straightforward golfing experience on Florida’s east coast, located just minutes from the Atlantic shore in Daytona Beach. This 18-hole public layout embraces a classic Florida flatland design where water hazards thread through many fairways, adding strategic interest without overwhelming the player. The course proves inviting to golfers of varying skill levels, balancing manageable fairways with enough length to challenge mid-range handicaps.

Water features are a defining element here, appearing in close proximity along nearly half the holes. While the fairways are not excessively narrow, accuracy is rewarded, encouraging players to weigh risk and reward when attacking each green. The greens themselves are typically modest in size, emphasizing placement and touch on approach shots. The setting presents a blend of open landscapes and sporadic tree lines, providing moments of shade and visual breaks without obstructing play.

The course is known for its pace of play, especially during early morning tee times when crowds are sparse. Cart paths vary in condition and occasionally require attention, but the generally flat terrain makes walking feasible for those prepared with appropriate footwear and hydration. Facilities include a pro shop staffed by knowledgeable professionals ready to assist both first-timers and regular visitors.

For those planning a visit, playing during the cooler morning hours is advisable to avoid the midday sun and enjoy the course in its best condition. While the golfing surface has seen both praise and criticism, ongoing care efforts indicate a commitment to improvement. Pelican Bay Golf Courses - North fits well for casual rounds or for players looking to sharpen their water hazard navigation skills without the pressure of an elite championship layout.

Situated just a short drive from Daytona Beach’s attractions, this course offers convenience alongside a solid Florida golf experience. Whether on vacation or local to the area, its approachable design makes it an inviting choice for a day on the links with friends or family.

Course Highlights

The course features water hazards lining multiple holes, presenting a consistent strategic challenge. Its simple yet effective design does not intimidate casual players but remains engaging for those aiming to fine-tune their accuracy and course management. The clubhouse provides a friendly atmosphere with staff attentive to first-time visitors and regulars alike.

I have been going to this Golf for three years, I admit that the first year in 2022, we were going to play there to pass the time before playing on much more beautiful courses. In 2023 the course had improved but still needed love. We felt that the intention of the team was to want to make this Golf like those great years. In 2024, we noticed an incredible amélioration, I leave some images that say it all. It is not perfect but the team deserves to have the 5 stars.

Worst course I have ever played in my life for over $40. It was better to hit off the rough than the fairways on most holes because of the lack of grass. Half the greens had really hard big dirt patches on them as well. Would never come back in a million years.

Greens and tees are awful! Greens are the worst I have ever seen. Course could be decent if the greens were done over.

Course is just awful, greens are literally dead and there are weeds everywhere. If you want to experience putting on a parking lot, this is the place to do it

Worst course I've ever played. Not a drop of water being put down - greens look like the desert, tee boxes are terrible, fairways suck also. We asked why the course was in such bad shape and were told the old ownership left them in a bad position. New ownership doesn't seem to be trying to make improvements. Disappointed to have paid to play this course.

For the money, it's really good. Came while on vacation. I had a 7:30am start time on Dec 30 and the course was empty. Managed to get a whole round in less than three hours. Most holes are lined with water on both sides, but fairways aren't super narrow either. Accuracy counts but its not impossible. Most greens were in decent enough shape. Cart paths, which were either non existent or well worn, were my only real negative, but not a big one.

Dillon from the pro shop and Hunter from the cart barn are awesome. What a great team. Was able to get a late nine in and they couldn’t have been kinder and more fun to talk to. Golfers in their own right, you can just tell. Thank you Gentlemen
