Daytona Beach Golf Club

Daytona Beach, Florida, USACentral Florida

Daytona Beach Golf Club offers an accessible 18-hole coastal layout marked by wide fairways and manageable wind challenges. Ideal for beginners and casual golfers, it combines a relaxed Florida atmosphere with convenient amenities, making it a practical choice for visitors seeking an affordable round near the Atlantic coast.

Course Overview

Daytona Beach Golf Club offers an 18-hole, public golf experience situated along the Atlantic coast in sunny Florida. The course’s layout embraces the flat, open terrain typical of coastal seaside courses, with wide fairways and modest elevation changes. Landscape elements such as scattered palms and mature oaks punctuate the property, creating a setting that is both approachable and familiar to players of various skill levels. While the course lacks dramatic elevation or heavily contoured greens, it provides a straightforward test that encourages strategic shot placement and steady pace of play.

With a yardage that hovers around the mid-6,000s, par 72 layout caters primarily to beginners and intermediate golfers, offering generous landing areas off the tee and relatively forgiving rough. The course’s signature challenge stems from its coastal winds, which engage players’ shot-making decisions and occasionally demand careful club selection. Bunkers and water hazards are present but play a supportive rather than punitive role, blending smoothly into the landscape.

The overall setting is imbued with the casual atmosphere that Florida’s golf scene is known for. A large, welcoming clubhouse anchors the property and provides amenities such as a well-stocked pro shop and casual dining options. The Sandtrap grill is a popular spot before or after rounds for players and visitors to refresh and refuel. Southerly ocean breezes refresh the air, while occasional rain showers bring brief pauses in play, typical of the region’s subtropical climate.

Golfers planning a visit will find that walking is possible, although the course is strategically designed for cart use to maintain pace and manage Florida’s warm conditions. The practice areas are adequate for warm-up, with putting greens and a driving range in good condition. While course maintenance has faced mixed reviews, the layout remains a convenient and accessible choice for players traveling through Daytona Beach, especially those looking for an affordable round not far from the coastline.

This layout suits those seeking a casual day on the links rather than a championship-level challenge, allowing players to focus on rhythm, club selection, and enjoying the coastal ambiance. Planning a visit during cooler early morning hours can maximize comfort and pace of play. Daytona Beach Golf Club’s approachable nature makes it a reasonable introduction to Florida golf or a relaxed outing for repeat visitors to the area.

Course Highlights

Wide fairways with coastal wind elements influencing strategy, modest bunkering that complements fairway design, and the Sandtrap Grill providing a casual culinary stop. The course offers a straightforward, wind-aware coastal layout that suits players seeking pace and playability rather than complex greens or elevation. The mature tree presence adds occasional shade and visual interest within the predominantly open property.

Course is in playable shape, but nothing to write home about. Not really worth the price but not a rip off. The problem is the staff. On hole 3 I had excruciating arm pain and had to quit after hole 4. I asked the proshop if there was any way to get a partial rain check since I paid for 18. They said they couldn’t but would ask the manager and he came out and said they don’t do that and I was SOL. Very rude and robotic staff. No hospitality whatsoever. Very disappointed and the sole reason I won’t play there again, despite the fair value they provide for golf. Worst staff/policies in the area.

Course isn’t in good shape. Full of big weeds and the greens are full of crab grass with no grass on the tee boxes. Had to cut our round short after the 5th hole because someone got hurt in our group. The pro shop staff was extremely rude when we asked if we could just have a rain check for the back nine and did nothing to help or care. They could have at least been nice about it.

First of all, either before or after your round stop in the Sandtrap for a Smashburger. As good as I’ve ever had with great fries. The pro shop was well stocked with pleasant counter staff. Bought a shirt on sale. Course was in pretty fare shape. (North side). Layout is nice and starter did a great job pairing me up with a couple of super nice guys. When I am traveling through I’ll be back.

This is no longer a nice place to play. The fairways and tee boxes need a complete overhaul and re-do. No excuses to be honest. In fact, I would advise you to play Pelican over this place.

Very disappointed in the condition of the course. We normally play there every time our home course is closed for repair but we will be finding a new alternative in the future. 1. Tee boxes had very little grass on them. It was like teeing off in a sand trap. 2. Greens were bumpy with lots of non-Bermuda grass on them. Additionally, they were very inconsistent speed wise. 3. Fairways were more like rough, except the rough had less weeds in it. 4. Where is the ice machine? We couldn’t find it and that isn’t good during a Florida summer. 5. One positive was the excellent GPS system on the carts.
