Timber Creek Golf Course

Bradenton, Florida, USACentral Florida

Timber Creek Golf Course in Bradenton, Florida delivers a thoughtful 9-hole public layout set within a natural wildlife sanctuary. Its approachable design balances a casual pace with environmental charm, making it ideal for golfers seeking a brief, nature-rich round with emphasis on short-game precision.

Course Overview

Timber Creek Golf Course offers an approachable yet engaging experience along its compact 9-hole layout, making it a distinctive choice for golfers in Bradenton, Florida. This public course combines casual play with natural beauty, set within a recognized wildlife sanctuary, allowing players to engage with a serene environment where golf and nature coexist closely. While the course’s footprint is modest, the setting delivers a refreshing escape, especially for those looking to sharpen short-game skills or enjoy a relaxed round without the pressure of a full 18-hole commitment.

The course’s design encourages players of varying ability levels to explore shotmaking with a variety of tee positions and target lines. Each hole’s greens present subtle contours, though many players note their pace leans toward the slower side, requiring thoughtful pace control and precise touch on approach shots. The fairways are relatively narrow and lined with native grasses that reinforce both focus and accuracy from tee to green.

Due to the course’s proximity to surrounding residential areas, golfers will find the layout intimate, demanding tactical play more than raw power. The wildlife sanctuary aspect brings added character, with local birds and native vegetation providing a quiet backdrop that enhances concentration and enjoyment. Rainfall and maintenance challenges have led to some fluctuations in turf quality over the years, but recent improvements reflect ongoing investment toward conditioning and playability.

Amenities complement the playing experience, including an on-site pro shop, availability of electric carts, and pull carts for those who prefer to walk. The course supports casual, social golf with weekly leagues and accessible tee times, welcoming beginners and families as well as those aiming to polish their short game.

For golfers seeking a low-key, nature-connected round without the crowds or complexity of larger resort courses, Timber Creek offers a sound option to refresh skills and unwind. Morning rounds are often best to avoid Florida’s afternoon heats, and players should prepare for the slower greens and some thicker rough in spots. Whether it’s a quick practice session or a leisurely outing, Timber Creek serves as a practical stop on any Bradenton golf itinerary.

Course Highlights

Unique for its integration within a wildlife sanctuary, Timber Creek’s 9-hole design challenges precision over length. Greens feature subtle breaks and slower speeds, requiring tactical putting. The course’s setting offers quiet natural surroundings uncommon in urban areas, complemented by recent improvements to turf and facilities that bolster playability for casual and beginner golfers alike.

Great little par 3, 9 hole course! Had to come back the next day to play again, it was that good. My only problem was the greens were extremely slow, but overall a nice little course.

This course recently has made wonderful improvements. They have a ladies league on Tuesday mornings @ 7:30am that is open to the public to join. They also have pull carts available along with a nifty honor box on-line or with cash to use when the pro-shop is closed on Sundays. Electric carts and rentals are also available.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff...(Cindy) The grounds are well kept, and the cost is reasonable. It's a great course for a leisurely round of par 3!

Great place to walk for the sceenery but I cannot recommened golf here. Course is in terrible shape greens are a mess thick matty grass half dead ...yes the greens ive never seen such and talk about slow. There are several so crowned even if you hit them your ball rolls off. Faiways and rough heavy thick wide grass. Course is also really narrow and butt up agaisnt condos. Its like they built the condos and then said lets squeeze in a 9 hole course. I would say only beginners should try it as it will be empty and you wont be rushed. But really stay away to many good courses in area.
