Course Overview

Riviera Country Club in Ormond Beach, Florida, offers an 18-hole public course where traditional coastal design meets approachable playability. Set against a backdrop of mature trees and subtle water features, the layout demands thoughtful shot placement without overwhelming less experienced players. While the fairways can tighten in spots, they generally provide clear sightlines, encouraging strategic drives over raw power. The course’s moderate length and well-maintained greens provide a satisfying challenge for mid- to low-handicap players, yet it remains accessible for golfers seeking a relaxed round.

The landscape subtly guides and occasionally tests your rhythm, from rapid, true greens that demand focus to bunkers positioned to influence approach decisions. Riviera’s layout encourages walking, revealing distinct holes that reward patience and shot selection. The peaceful surroundings and the absence of heavy traffic create an environment where the game can unfold naturally, though afternoons may bring a livelier pace with more walkers sharing the course.

Riviera operates with a first-come, first-served tee-time policy, which suits golfers who enjoy spontaneous rounds over strict scheduling. The clubhouse offers casual dining with quality service and reasonable prices, making it an inviting spot to relax post-round or for socializing with local players. Staff friendliness contributes to an unpretentious atmosphere that balances the competitive nature of golf with welcoming community spirit.

For visitors planning a trip, walking is recommended to fully appreciate the course’s design and natural flow, though carts are available upon request. Golfers should be mindful of the course’s tight fairways and the occasional variable pace during busier periods. Riviera Country Club proves itself a solid option for those looking to experience Florida golf outside the high-demand resort circuit, blending straightforward navigation with just enough strategic nuance to hold interest.

This course thrives on its blend of character and ease of access, making it a favored choice for locals and visitors alike who appreciate a well-run course with spirited play and a friendly vibe.

The course features narrow fairways flanked by mature trees and water hazards that demand accuracy. Have been playing this course sine the 80’s. Overall it’s a good course for nearly every level of play. A little tight in the fairways at times, but that’s ok. Greens are usually fast. Be aware they do not take tee times. It’s first come first serve. There is a starter in the mornings that keeps the flow going, but after that it’s up to the golfers to pair up and play. The course could use a ranger as one thing I’ve noticed is that there are a lot of walkers in the afternoons when the rates go down. This slows down play considerably. Most are aware of golf etiquette, but quite a few have no clue, and this can stretch a four hour game into a five to five and a half hour ordeal.

Nice little course, fairly well maintained, very low key casual. I played with three members who were absolutely terrific. Great value for Florida golf.

Quality golf course. Plenty of character. It’s a bit tight but I really think the average golfer would struggle to lose a golf ball on this course. Tee boxes, greens and fairways are in great shape. Will be back. This is a nice hidden gem in Ormond Beach. I think this course might be better enjoyed walking.
