Blacklake Golf Resort Bar & Grille

Nipomo, California, USACentral Coast California

Blacklake Golf Resort Bar & Grille combines three varied nine-hole courses across parkland and coastal desert landscapes. This public facility offers affordability, approachable play, and a lively bar and grille, making it a favored stop near California’s Central Coast.

Course Overview

Blacklake Golf Resort Bar & Grille offers a dynamic blend of value and variety in a casual, inviting setting along California's Central Coast. Located in Nipomo, this public facility features three distinct nine-hole courses, each with its own character and layout, providing an adaptable experience for players of various skill levels. Oaks, Lakes, and Dunes present a combination of parkland and coastal desert elements, offering a unique contrast to the surrounding landscape that both challenges and entertains.

The Oaks course winds through mature oak trees, demanding accuracy off the tee with narrow fairways guarded by natural obstacles. Lakes adds water hazards that bring strategic complexity, encouraging thoughtful club selection and shot placement. The Dunes layout embraces a more open, desert-inspired style that requires patience and creativity, especially when the coastal winds influence ball flight.

Despite some maintenance issues noted with green and fairway conditions, the resort attracts golfers seeking affordable rounds without sacrificing diverse play. The overall setting boasts ample parking and spacious practice areas, including a driving range and putting green, making it a convenient stop for both locals and visitors en route to nearby ocean destinations. Amenities extend beyond the course itself with a vibrant Bar & Grille offering casual fare and drinks, open seven days a week, often complemented by live music on Sundays.

Navigating the course on foot is an option, although golfers frequently rely on carts due to the terrain and length of back-to-back nines. Golfers should come prepared for variable conditions, with sun protection advised for warmer days and sturdy footwear for uneven ground in some sections. The staff is known for friendly, welcoming service, enhancing the approachable atmosphere.

While Blacklake may not offer championship conditions found at premium resorts nearby, it shines as a community-focused venue emphasizing enjoyment and accessibility. For those seeking relaxed rounds in a setting that mixes natural oak groves with water features and coastal breeze, Blacklake Golf Resort Bar & Grille deserves consideration as a practical and spirited destination within California's golf landscape.

Great location plenty of parking, minutes from oceano and AG. The music on Sundays is fun. Food and drinks are available outside. Love the fact you can park your golf cart and hang out to listen to music. Definitely need some type of shade on the warmer days whether and sun umbrella or Eze up. Bring your chair, blanket and enjoy.

Love this course best bang for your buck by far and the 3 nine hole course options are great! Oaks and lakes are my favorite. Matt and jimmy are super helpful and the bar is the best! Becky,Clarissa, and Gabbie are super friendly great bartenders and make everyone feel like they're welcome. It's not augusta but it's a great muni.

Staff was friendly. Course has potential. However, it's condition is like a poorly maintained rough back yard. This is especially glaring compared to the nearby Monarch Dunes, which is superb. Both course are over priced for what they deliver, but I would do to pay 2x more to play Monarch Dunes and skip Blacklake.

Hold on to your cart. Won’t golf there ever again. So many pot holes. They are out of control and can’t see how they can fix them all. Thought I was going to break ribs. Golfed there many times but no more

First time here very nice, well maintained. Only had time for nine, played the canyons. Great experience, somewhat of a disadvantage if you haven't played here before. Couple of the tee boxes are blind but really fun course.

The weather is amazing obviously but the course could use some work. The greens have dead sections and the fairways are pretty bad. Would be a great course if the upkeep was better.
