Teleli Golf Club

Sonora, California, USACentral California Sierra Foothills

Teleli Golf Club offers a public 18-hole course featuring rolling foothills terrain and well-maintained playing conditions. This mountain-foothill layout presents a balanced challenge that welcomes golfers of all skill levels, complemented by a popular restaurant and a smoothly flowing pace of play.

Course Overview

Teleli Golf Club offers an inviting public 18-hole layout set amid the rolling hills just outside Sonora, California. This course combines a mountain foothills atmosphere with a surprisingly well-maintained playing surface, delivering a refreshing golf experience that balances challenge and enjoyment for players of varied abilities. The course winds through natural undulations, demanding thoughtful shot placement and rewarding steady play rather than power alone.

The landscape plays a prominent role here. Fairways crest and dip over gentle slopes, framed by native grasses and scattered groves of oaks and pines. While elevation changes add interest and test club selection, the routing remains accessible, encouraging walkers to engage fully with the terrain. Golfers should expect some uphill climbs, making carts a popular choice, although walking the course offers an immersive encounter with the foothill environment.

Teleli’s conditioning is notable, especially given the region’s summer climate. The staff’s dedication keeps fairways healthy and greens receptive, making approach shots and putting feel reliable and predictable. Bunkers and natural rough come into play strategically but rarely overwhelm, allowing players a fair chance to recover from errant shots.

The course pace typically flows smoothly, with rounds averaging around three and a half hours, ideal for those valuing an enjoyable pace paired with varied hole designs. Signage and course markers are clear, ensuring visitors can navigate without worry.

Off the course, the clubhouse offers a welcoming spot to relax before or after play. The attached restaurant and bar have earned praise for both atmosphere and food quality, making it a favored destination for locals and visitors alike. Shower and restroom facilities are available near the clubhouse, with a few portable stations on the course.

Golfers visiting Teleli will find a setting that blends natural foothill charm and solid course management. The layout rewards strategic thinking while providing room for honest scoring. Whether seeking a casual round or a measuring stick for your game in the Sierra Nevada foothills, Teleli Golf Club stands out as a solid choice in Central California’s public golf scene.

Course Highlights

The course is distinguished by its rolling foothill setting, presenting a mountain-style layout with natural elevation changes that challenge club selection. Thoughtful bunker placement protects key landing zones but maintains fair playability. The clubhouse’s restaurant has gained a reputation for quality dining, enriching the overall visit. Teleli’s conditioning stands out in a region where courses often struggle to stay green through summer, highlighting dedicated course maintenance. The smooth pace of play and welcoming public status make it a favored destination for locals and visitors exploring golf opportunities near Sonora.

This is our second trip to the course and our first time dining at the bar and grill. Lunch was perfection, so delicious and beautifully presented. The ladies at restaurant were so friendly and welcoming. The greens were nicely kept. Will be back again!

Been going here for many years, always was my favorite foothill course. However today was last time ever coming here again. Playing a 4some with my brothers and uncle and on 3rd hole a fat marshal comes riding up on us in his cart telling us to hurry up we are too slow, we were just behind group in front of us and we could see them as he was talking to us. It was the way he told us that was bothersome, very rude and needs customer service skills. Four lost customer's here great job!

I love this course actually.. but. We golfed 18 with my mother and wife on mother's day. At the end of 18 holes- 4pm.. the lady in the pro shop would not let my pregnant wife use the restroom. Restaurant being closed, my wife had to pee in an open feild. I will not come back here again. None of us will.

Lots to say about Teleli Golf Club (public course). Everyone was pleasant, from the staff to other visitors, there's also plenty of parking and the restaurant/bar is perfect pre and post golf. Bathrooms - there are some on the course (but honestly they look like old concession stands) and there's one at the main club house area (near the parking lot). If it's early morning, entrance to the bathroom is on the left side of the building, as front doors might be locked). I figured since it's summer the course would be essentially brown throughout, but definitely not the case...the staff has done a great job at keeping it green. It's a much nicer course than I thought it would be and where I'll definitely return. The course itself is pretty forgiving, but there are areas where you'll just have to say...I'm not going to get that ball. We did 18 holes in about 3.5 hours, the speed of play was nice throughout and per patrons who frequent the golf course they say it's common to play that fast. Directions this was my greatest challenge...be VERY wary of using google maps, as it might take you to Red Oak Casino (ask me how I know...lol): From Hwy 108, turn onto Lime Kiln Road and drive 2.2 miles, the Teleli Golf Club sign will be on your right. Dress code is golf attire, collars were not enforced and if you're in shape...you can walk the course, but it's quite hilly, so enjoy with a cart! Go visit..you'll be glad you did!
