Pismo Beach Golf Course

Grover Beach, California, USACentral California Coast

Pismo Beach Golf Course presents a friendly 9-hole par-3 layout just steps from the Pacific. Its accessible design offers a balance of challenge and charm for players of all levels, combined with affordable rates and a casual coastal setting.

Course Overview

Located just minutes from the Pacific coastline in Grover Beach, California, Pismo Beach Golf Course offers an approachable, enjoyable golf experience designed for players of all skill levels. This 9-hole par-3 layout unfolds over a compact but thoughtfully crafted landscape that requires precision and strategy rather than sheer power. Its executive-style design invites beginners to build confidence while providing enough subtle challenge to engage more experienced golfers.

The course avoids grandeur through simplicity, using natural terrain and water features to add character to each hole. One standout moment arrives at the seventh hole, which demands a carry exceeding 100 yards over a sizeable pond. This carries a refreshing test of accuracy and commitment. Surrounding the greens, small bunkers and gentle undulations encourage thoughtful shot-making, while the greens themselves demand a steady touch despite some reported patchiness in smoothness.

Pismo Beach Golf Course balances laid-back coastal atmosphere with consistency in maintenance and friendly service, making it accessible for families, beginners, and casual players seeking a relaxed round. The often-mild weather typical of the Central Coast ensures enjoyable play year-round, while electric carts are available though some prefer walking the short, walkable layout to take in the sea breeze and open sky.

While modest in scale compared to full-length courses, the venue’s value comes from its affordability and inclusiveness. Rates remain among the most reasonable in the region, allowing visitors to enjoy a quick round without a heavy commitment of time or expense. The clubhouse provides basic amenities, and the approachable pace of play makes it well suited for spur-of-the-moment visits or a pleasant diversion during a longer coastal getaway.

For those planning a visit, sturdy golf shoes are recommended as green conditions can be slightly uneven, and players should bring a keen eye for strategic shot placement. Whether testing your short game or enjoying golf with family and friends, Pismo Beach Golf Course is a welcoming gateway to golf on the Central California coast.

Course Highlights

A standout feature is the seventh hole's water carry, which challenges accuracy despite the course's executive length. The layout emphasizes shot precision and course management, offering a refreshing par-3 experience along the Central Coast. Friendly staff and a relaxed environment frame the course's charm.

Left my golf club at the course a few months ago and called to ask if they had it, they found it and said they could keep it for me until my next trip to the coast. Well I just called them to make sure they still had it and if I could come pick it up. The lady was extremely rude and not helpful. She laughed at me and said “you can come here and look for it but I don’t know what else to tell you” Hmm maybe ask me what brand and club it is for starters? It blows my mind that someone could be that rude for literally no reason. You can keep the club!!

This is a nice par 3 course. Great weather most of the time. Friendly staff. The prices are reasonable. I just wish they didn't charge full price on the electric golf carts for a second trip around the course. I will be back in August.

This is a GEM of an executive style, all par-3 golf course. It will steal your heart as it has mine since I was but a wee lad, but I am more than happy to have left it in the hands of such a deserving destination. The beautiful layout/design requires just enough skill to score well and to hold the interest of experienced players but it certainly isn't overwhelming or intimidating for the novice or even 1st time golfer, with the exception of hole number seven, which requires a 100 + yard carry over a large pond. For such a highly trafficked and well loved course, the condition is good. The only area of concern is that the greens are a bit on the bumpy side of the "bump-o-meter" spectrum, but this is more a reflection on the golfers' casual or even innocently ignorant attitude towards fixing ball marks than it is a actual course maintenance problem. For that reason I cannot deduct a star for this review... all said, my 5 star review is meant to give confidence that you won't be disappointed in the cost/quality ratio, and btw, the green fees are very reasonable. I am 57 and didn't quite meet the senior rate requirements, but it still only cost me an $18 greens fee for the twilight rate. Do yourself and any of your golfer friends a favor by making plans to play here the 1st opportunity you get to visit the Central Coast area of California. Happy golfing trails! 😎

Very nice golf course wedding venue. Yes, I wasn’t there to play golf but to attend the wedding. So, I can’t talk about golfing experience there, but the tent they let us use for the reception was great! Plenty of space for all the guests. We had a outdoor wedding, which I suspect is most of the cases, and it was just perfect. The beach is quite close, and the venue let the bride and groom to use the gold carts to travel to and from the beach for the mini photo session at the beach before the ceremony. It isn’t a huge problem but their restroom in the club house is small (one person at a time), so they had two (men and women) porta potties outside the tent, but for the amount of guests there were it took a while for people to use it. Other than that, it’s a pretty good venue for events like that. Parking isn’t the biggest one I’ve seen, but it wasn’t nearly full, and I saw quite a few people parked along the street by the tent for easy access.
