Cider Ridge Golf Club

Oxford, Alabama, USACentral Alabama

Cider Ridge Golf Club provides an 18-hole public course featuring dynamic elevation changes, smooth Bermuda greens, and a layout that suits both casual players and competitive golfers. Its blend of mountain and tree-lined holes offers a rewarding experience throughout Oxford, Alabama.

Course Overview

Cider Ridge Golf Club offers an engaging 18-hole layout that balances a diverse range of golf challenges amid the rolling terrain of Oxford, Alabama. This public muni course presents a thoughtful blend of elevation changes and varied hole designs that both test and reward players across skill levels. From par 4s with significant elevation shifts to shorter holes that tempt aggressive play, Cider Ridge shapes each round with a disciplined but inviting personality.

The course’s Bermudagrass greens provide a smooth putting surface prized for its consistent roll and firmness when maintained in prime condition. Fairways exhibit a generally healthy cover, though certain areas are occasionally marked by maintenance efforts or lingering dampness from the region’s frequent rains—an element players should be prepared to manage. Strategic bunkering appears mostly in low-lying sections where drainage can challenge footing, creating hazards that require thoughtful approach shots and careful recovery.

Cider Ridge’s natural topography plays an integral role, presenting both mountain-like elevation climbs and tree-lined corridors that frame the central fairways. Holes such as the drivable par 4 11th invite risk-reward decisions, while longer holes demand patience and precision, especially with greens that reward well-executed approach shots. These contrasts create a rhythm that keeps each hole feeling unique and engaging.

Players will find the course accessibility welcoming, with a public course layout that serves golfers prepared for both leisurely outings and competitive rounds. Walking is possible, though some elevation changes make sturdy golf shoes a wise choice. While carts may be limited during wet conditions, navigating the course on foot offers an intimate connection to the terrain.

Amenities include a clubhouse that accommodates guests and provides basic needs after a round. It’s advisable to check ahead for kitchen and cart availability, as seasonal factors and maintenance schedules can affect these services.

For visitors in search of a course that combines solid playability with varied shot-making opportunities, Cider Ridge Golf Club presents a memorable challenge reflecting the natural character of Central Alabama’s landscape.

Course Highlights

The course stands out for its Bermuda greens that hold true in firm conditions and holes with pronounced elevation shifts. The drivable par 4 11th hole challenges golfers to weigh risk against reward, while tree-lined fairways on lowland holes demand accuracy. Maintenance focuses on preserving playability despite local weather patterns, especially in sand traps prone to water retention.

Was Cart path only, and I get it because of all the rain, but the drainage is terrible despite all the hills. Had to hike 10-40 ft hills to get to the fairway. Kitchen wasn’t open and no cart going around, even with a full card all day. We got hit into 4 times even with letting people pass, last one actually hit our cart, and we were not going that slow, if you come be ready to play speed golf. Was not worth the price they put on a round.

Played this course several times, each time has been a great experience. They replaced the greens to Bermuda this year and they were rolling great. The course has a large variation on types of holes, mountain holes with large elevation changes, lowland holes with tree lined fairways, short drivable par 4’s (#11) and long “bogie is a good score” par 4’s (looking at you #16). In its prime it plays firm and fast, during winter they do a good job keeping everything in good condition and greens rolling smooth. Will be coming back!

Big picture: cider ridge is a public muni golf course and it is a hidden gem. Nice layout with fun elevation changes and a couple of hidden tee shots. Greens are exceptional not too fast not too slow and only a few bad spots. Fairways very nice but several had spots they were working on. Sand traps are a problem in low places where water and sand and dirt turn to mud. All in all a really fun golf outing

A very beautiful track that plays every bit as well as it looks. Greens were phenomenal and rolled true. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to test their game. One of the best Courses I’ve played in years.
