Course Overview

Glenlakes Golf Club presents an 18-hole public course located in Foley, Alabama, offering an accessible outing for golfers seeking enjoyable play without the premium price tag found elsewhere in the region. The course stretches just over 6,600 yards from the back tees and plays to a par of 72, blending a layout that balances open fairways with pockets of strategic challenge. While not a traditional championship test, Glenlakes focuses on approachable golf that welcomes beginners and casual players, providing a straightforward setting that encourages relaxed rounds amid the subtropical surroundings of southern Alabama.

Lying within a mostly flat landscape, the course features a parkland style with subtle elevation shifts that create enough visual interest without overwhelming less experienced players. Fairways are lined with clusters of mature pine and hardwood trees, framing each hole in a manner that offers both shade and occasional wind buffers. Bunkers and water hazards appear sparingly, giving golfers clear targets while preserving pace of play. The greens, however, have drawn mixed reviews regarding their condition, often reflecting maintenance challenges that can affect surface speed and consistency.

Players should expect a walkable venue with wide paths between holes and benign terrain. Those planning to walk the course will benefit from sturdy golf shoes due to wet conditions common in the area after rainfall. Amenities include a clubhouse equipped with fundamental services to refresh guests and provide a communal space before and after rounds. Glenlakes also operates a practice area suitable for warming up.

The club positions itself as an affordable alternative in the Gulf Shores region, serving locals and visitors who prioritize value and a casual golf experience. While it lacks some of the intricate design features or pristine conditions of more renowned courses, Glenlakes offers a solid environment for those wanting to sharpen skills or enjoy a day out on the links without pressure.

Went with my son and son in-law. We had a great time. Wasn't too busy so we could take our time. Since walking in the front door, we were treated like PGA pros. Cheaper course but in great shape. A couple of the fairways were messed up in spots but they have had a decent amount of rain lately. We will come back next time we visit Gulf Shores area.

I'm a local here and I've been playing at Glen Lakes for quite a while. I always took the conditions with a grain of salt, because it is about the only affordable round of golf around. But yesterday may have been the last time. $70 for a 4 PM start time was a shocker to start with (I was expecting $35-45 as I remembered). But the greens have genuinely become unplayable. I honestly opted to use a wedge on MULTIPLE greens to work around the conditions. The grass was SO LONG on the greens too, not a "true roll" to be found anywhere. If you just want a cheap'ish round and drink a bunch I guess it works. But if you have any expectation to enjoy the process of "golf," look elsewhere. I'd rather pay $120 and enjoy the round than $70 and not enjoy it.

Played Glen Lakes on 5/4 with two buddies of mine. This course is in HORRIBLE shape. The pic I uploaded is only one example, but the vast majority of the greens were exactly like this one. In no universe is the course worth $80. Will be the last time we play here.

May 31, 2025. I honestly believe that if your greens are not up to par that you should let people know before they pay you for the day. we had a group of 4 people that were visiting from TN and we chose to play glen lakes and we expected to be able to put on the greens. Shame on you for taking peoples money with out telling them your greens were in really bad shape. every green looked like this basically we wasted 280.00 that day. Way to give tourist and locals something to remember your place by Recommend you asked them before you play.

Horrible establishment. Came with a bachelor party group of 13 to play. Paid them $1,200 to play their unkept course and they treated us like criminals the whole time. Keep in mind we were very respectful, didn’t drink a drop, and played through quickly. They randomly started yelling at us and throwing temper tantrums because a couple of us were sharing clubs since we were playing a scramble and didn’t have room in the cars to bring all of our bags. Never told us this rule before we started playing, but kept acting like we were trying to scam them or something. It’s run by a bunch of immature rude old guys who are trying to give themselves heart attacks from overacting over nothing. I understand having rules, but maybe ask us politely and explain the rules before you jump down our throats over something silly. To top it all off they forced us to borrow clubs, then gave me left handed clubs and laughed about it. This place sucks and it’s twice as expensive as anywhere else. If you are trying to enjoy your vacation, this place will ruin a whole day.
