Auburn, Alabama, USACentral Alabama

Pines Crossing Golf Course in Auburn, Alabama, offers a finely maintained parkland-style 18-hole layout paired with modern practice facilities. Its straightforward routing combines rolling terrain and strategic bunkering, creating a rewarding challenge for golfers of various skill levels.

Course Overview

Pines Crossing Golf Course, located in Auburn, Alabama, stands out as a thoughtfully maintained public 18-hole layout that balances natural beauty with approachable playability. Formerly known as Indian Pines, this course underwent a significant renovation in 2023, elevating both its conditioning and strategic elements. Pines Crossing offers a parkland-style design characterized by gently rolling hills that shape fairways framed by mature trees and punctuated by well-placed bunkers and water features. The fairways and greens are consistently praised for their immaculate upkeep, providing golfers with a smooth yet engaging playing surface.

The routing moves fluidly through diverse holes that challenge golfers without overwhelming less experienced players. The moderately narrow fairways demand accuracy off the tee, rewarding those who strike the sweet spot, while the greens present subtle breaks that test putting skills. Water hazards and bunkers come into play carefully rather than aggressively, encouraging strategic approaches and thoughtful club selection.

Beyond the course itself, Pines Crossing accommodates golfers with modern amenities that include a renovated driving range with updated turf, a compact but well-equipped pitching area, and a dedicated putting green. These practice facilities offer opportunities to warm up or hone short game skills in comfortable surroundings. Located conveniently off Opelika Road and near Auburn’s campus, Pines Crossing serves as a practical and accessible option for both locals and visitors.

The landscape is understated yet inviting, with views that capture the gentle contours of East Alabama’s terrain. Players often note the firm but receptive greens, which hold approach shots confidently yet roll true without surprising speeds. Whether preparing for a casual round or sharpening competitive edge, Pines Crossing delivers a golfing experience rooted in quality conditioning and thoughtful design.

Walkers will appreciate the fair pace of play and well-maintained cart paths, though sturdy shoes are recommended for navigating slight elevations and natural undulations. This course encourages players of all skill levels to enjoy a round marked by both a relaxed rhythm and meaningful shot-making decisions.

Great golf course. Beautiful view, has a renovated driving range, small but nice pitching area, and a putting green. Located pretty centrally of Auburn/Opelika and close to Opelika Rd, makes it a more accessible option than RTJ for locals or students that stay close to campus. Important note: 5:30pm is when the range stops taking people, at least for the current (spring sem) time of the year

Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend 5/24 10am Went in thinking we had a reservation but didn't. It was our fault not the Golf Club. From thein I walked in the man at the counter had a bad attitude and acted like he could care less to help, glad we came in ect. I believe it was totally contained to this one employee not a representation of the galolf club. Really bad experience

The newly renovated (2023) Pines Crossing (formerly Indian Pines) operated by Auburn and Opelika is a really nice public course. The greens and fairways have matured nicely this year and the cost to play is very reasonable. Highly recommend. ⛳ I was at the course in December and the course is still in pretty good shape. Added fall photos. 🍁

Visited this course on 6/18/2025. I have never seen a course where every square inch was so immaculately groomed. Every tee box was perfect. Every fairway lie was perfect. Every green was firm but not too fast. Even the driving range grass was perfect. The layout is pretty straightforward, but there’s enough rolling hills, large bunkers, and water features to make it interesting. This is definitely a gem and one that I wish I lived closer to. I highly recommend checking this one out.
